THE JUNE SLEEVERS!

This is just one example, but my surgeon used to not have a pre-op diet requirement, until he had a patient who had to be converted to an open procedure near the end of surgery because the liver was too heavy to move out of the way. When the doctor talked to the patient's wife about it, she confessed that her husband had engaged in a multi-day pre-op binge...I think they said he gained over 20 pounds the last two weeks. So now the doctor requires weight loss in those last two weeks, even though he doesn't require it for any other pre-op period.

It is so good to see many of us getting together. i am really excited about my surgery. I have to go see the nutritionist and the anesthesiologist on Wednesday to get my pre-op diet and to discuss the final step for the surgery.
does anybody else have butterflies. Every time i think about the surgery and get butterflies.
Add me to the list. I'll probably hit you all up as buddies. I go for Pre-op on May 24th, so I'll be glad to share everything I learn with you guys/gals. I'm a teacher too and worried about being on all liquids through the last 2 weeks of school, but I will survive. I've been trying to do 2 protein shakes a day each work day for several weeks and so ok most days. But dinner is usually a normal dinner for me so have not lost a lot of weight. GO JUNE SLEEVERS!

Count me in! June 12th here. I'm struggling to get out of the "Long, last supper" phase and into more healthy eating and exercise. I want to be more physically ready for the surgery but it's so tempting to eat a favorite food or two "one last time". I know that with some foods, I'll be saying goodbye forever, while others can still be enjoyed in extreme moderation. Still, I'm looking forward to not having the option of cheating once the surgery is done.
