Waiting for approval of my vsg and I am having major anxiety. Anyone who has been denied the first time...what did you all do to get approved? Any advice for calming the jitters?

I felt the same way. Many of us do.

Does your surgeon's office pre-check your insurance requirements? Typically my surgeon's office knows whether we'll be approved or not before they submit. Many who are denied can get approved through an appeals process, but if you meet the insurance requirements you should be approved.

My first question is always this:  Have you talked to your insurance company yourself and verified both the requirements and the documentation you have?  IF so, don't sweat the approval.  The insurance coordinators at our surgeons are terrific people and know the system, but they may be dealing with a hundred or more insurance companies.  Sometimes their information is out of date.

In my case, I did this.  When I got a call from my Doctor's office telling me I had been denied, I knew it was a mistake.  I called my insurance company back myself, they verified that it should have been approved and gave me the procedure code to have the doctor enter.  I had my approval that afternoon.

Wow!   just read how much you have lost now. You are doing great. I got an email this morning from Lisa at hca, telling me all they are waiting on are the notes from my final consult with Dr. H on the 24th, and then they will submit. Since I am hca employee, I am hearing it should go through with no problems. Guess, I will find out.
How's your physical energy now? I bet your can really tell a difference in your physical abilities.
I have a knee problem, I am hoping with improve with the weight loss too.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
