Stall (rant)

It appears I have been in a stall since Monday, which was 2 weeks post op for me. In doing my research before surgery I knew this would probably happen, and tried to prepare myself for the emotional consequences of this. However, I am finding that along with a lot of other things post op, there really is no way to prepare yourself for it.
I am getting at least 64oz water in each day, 70+g protein, and I've been walking (still not cleared for strenuous activity). Actually about to head out to the beach and take a walk there now, walking on the beach definitely gets my heart rate going!
I just hope this stall breaks soon, it is really discouraging. I also don't see any difference in my physical appearance even though I have lost a good amount of weight. I know I should start taking measurements to see if I am losing inches, but am worried that I will be even more discouraged if I'm not losing inches.
I also want to say I would be lost without this forum, all the advice and support has helped me tremendously both pre and post-op! Thank you all for that.
*end rant*

Don't worry I'm 11 weeks post op and I'm on my second stall.  I think of it this way, I can't eat much so I'm cant be gaining, I gotta be loosing it somewhere.  Plus, I think my first stall came about the same time as your stall.

Try not to be discouraged. It is part of the process and the sooner you accept it the better off you will be. As for not noticing the weight, it's probably coming off in places you don't really look. Like your back, feet, forearms, face and neck usually show it early on too. The scale is not the only measure of success. Your body is changing on the inside as well. If you had any co-morbidities, those will likely improve too. Take your measurements, try on some clothes that were too tight. You might notice a difference then. Hang in there. In a few months, your clothes will probably be falling off you!

Thank you very much for the encouragement. You're right, the last few times my blood sugar was checked (in the hospital) it was completely normal. I also had my blood pressure checked and that was normal too. I am waiting to see a difference in my face and neck, but I hope that if I just stick with the program it will come soon. Thanks again!

First things first sometimes it can take a while for ourselves to see the difference at 12 weeks post op I uploaded a photo and was amazed when I saw my results as could not see in front of the mirror, this is quite normal it takes the brain longer to catch up to the body.

Second thing, you sound a little negative about being scared to take measurements just do it! you can thank me later down the track, As some stalls can last for up to 8 weeks I heard one lady say she had one, so instead of feeling discouraged if you do have a long stall you will see the difference on the tape measure. so whats best I ask you feeling like **** that you are stalling for say 3 weeks OR stalling but seeing the tape measure going down it can really put these stalls into perspective. You've done really well already so no negativity!!

Thank you so much, you're right I think I am being a bit negative. Even though I am scared I will break out the tape measure soon! I did take some before photos, but haven't even looked at them yet so maybe that will help. Thank you for your kind words!

I have been on a stall since last Friday, so one week. It friggin sucks.

I took the time yesterday to compare my measurements to pre-surgery and I've lost almost 11 inches in various places.

The weirdest ones to me were 3/4 of an inch around my neck. And 3/4 of an inch from each of my calves!

So I'm just going to keep on trucking I suppose. It has to catch up eventually. We barely eat anything lol

11 inches is incredible! My husband says my calves look thinner too, but I don't see it. And yes, stalls most definitely suck! Good to know we're not alone on this journey :)

My first stall happened right around the two week out mark as well. It lasted just over two weeks, and then I started dropping like crazy again. Ever since then, the pattern seems to be drop like crazy for three or four days, slow for a day or two, stop for a day, and then pick back up with the huge drops again. It's a little maddening, because I keep thinking I'm going to start another stall, but then I keep moving, so I guess something is working.

Just don't give in to those feelings. I know how frustrating they can be, but this too shall pass.

One thing I'm learning is that people seem to notice my weight loss more when I'm at the slow/stopped part of my losing pattern for some reason... it's like my body is catching up with the scale, and then once they agree again, I can move forward.

Something else I've learned: when people tell you they can see a difference in this place or that, believe them! They have no reason to make that kind of thing up... lol
