And now the bills start rolling in
Holy hell. I know I am only responsible for a tiny fraction of what I am seeing but these bills are nuts.
$82,000 from the hospital. My insurance negotiated rate is $15K. I am also receiving bills from what appears to be anyone who touched me in those 48 hours which is super confusing b/c I thought this was a more all inclusive thing.
Oh well, I am still content and my out of pocket maximum will kick in. Just a little staggering to see all those numbers.

Oh wow!! You're scaring me now! How many nights were you in the hospital? My insurance has a $10,000 cap for what they'll pay for the procedure (of their negotiated price). I don't want that all to go to a 1 or 2 night hospital stay and then I still have to pay everything else out of pocket. Plus I have to pay 15% as a co-pay. Yikes! I was planning for about 4-5k out of pocket expenses. I might be in a world of hurt!
I know what you mean...well, I haven't been sleeved yet, but I recently had back surgery so the bills are rolling into my mailbox too. I've easily hit the $120,000+ mark after 2 hospital stays of a week each, 3 epidural injections, and a massive spinal fusion surgery complete with 3 surgeons. Um, yeah, so I am pretty okay with the $1,200.00 I have had to shell out. After I am sleeved, I'm sure it will bring it up .close to $150,000....thank goodness for benefits!!
Mine was about the same as yours and I'm still trying to get the $250 bill lower because I have (2) insurances. Primary: United Healthcare, Secondary: BCBS of Michigan. Of course when my husband saw the $13,000+ plus bill and total due of $250 he actually wrote on the bill "This is very good"........very good to me is total due "0".
Im there with you, I have BCBD of MI. My out of pocket was like $179 because I did it at the end of the year where most of my deductible was already used.
