Rewards
So, I was reading posts last night from the past few days and there was a thread about rewards for meeting goals and nsv's. I had to agree with most of what was posted, especially that growing up most of us were rewared with food. Food was both a reward and it was also a comfort for me. I got a laugh about the quote that dogs are rewarded with food.
As I realized that I could no longer reward myself with food pre-op, I began shopping. Now that's not to say that there are times when it's completely appropiate for me to do so. But really how many pairs of shoes and handbags do I really need? (Hated shopping for plus size clothes.)
So at this point I am having to curb the clothes spending. Except, all my old clothes are falling off of me, including my workout swimsuit, which I discovered in the pool today. I just started back at the pool and swam my first mile since before surgery in April.
I did end up rewarding myself with a new suit. Thankfully Big 5 had Speedo's on sale. Hubby said it was okay to buy two, but I opted for 1 and decided to check out Marshall's and found a dress for the same price as the second suit. The great part is that the dress was a size 12. Haven't worn that size since the late 90's. I've been trying to buy most of my clothes at Salvation Army, Goodwill, Value Village and an occasional consignment shop, since I've been dropping sizes so quickly. To have something new that isn't a plus size is wonderful to me. Maybe I'll wear the dress to my 2 month post-op visit tomorrow.

Good for you! I bought a new pair of capris last week and I love them! I usually shop at thrift stores anyway ( I am uber cheap) but I kinda feel like I deserved it! I won't get many new things on my way down but once in awhile it is nice. My rewards are pedicures - I love them! My hubby gave me a card yesterday with a gift card for a massage and facial. My son graduated from HS on Friday and I had my VSG almost 3 weeks ago so he thought I deserved it. Nice guy, huh?
