3 Months and Going Strong!
VSG on 03/05/12
It's been 3 months since I had my surgery and I am down nearly 70 lbs. (lost 5 during 2 wk prep)
This has been a challenging and amazing journey! In the last three months I have gone from a size 24 to a big-on-me 18...I've been too nervous to try anything smaller yet...maybe soon.
I have run my first 5K...second one coming up in July. By this time next year I will have done the Warrior Dash and become a tri-athlete! Who would have known I was going to become an athlete at nearly 32 years old, mom of 2 small kids, and after a lifetime of obesity. I was put on my first dr. ordered diet at age 7. My dad weighed over 500 lbs. while I was growing up. This was no where near on my radar.
I went on a beach vacation where I had tons of energy to spend time with my family. I was able to focus on having fun and enjoying our time instead of worrying what I looked like. On that note, even in Zumba class I don't mind being by the mirror. I'm not amazing to look at or anything...but my reflection doesn't make me want to cry anymore. I am proud and strong and confident in what I have been able to accomplish.
So to any newly-sleeved or thinking about it people, this was sooo worth it! The first few weeks were rough...and it takes a lot of work and pushing yourself beyond where you thought you could be...but it's great! I'm enjoying the ride! :-)

I've only lost 50 in 4 months (plus a week preop diet) so you are doing AMAZING! Great work and way to go on the 5k!
And I totally agree...this sleeve has been the best thing EVERRR!

Great job! It is fun to count the blessings and see the changes. Enjoy!

“Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence. What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb. What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.? JRM
