I owe you an apology (LONG POST)

Every single person I've heard who ever has surgery thinks "What have I done?" the day after. Doesn't matter which surgery--I had the same thought about my hysterectomy. Maybe we need a post-op forum we need to send the newbies to, so they will be aware of what they're in for.

As a friend of mine said, not only do I not regret the surgery but if it required having it done every year, I would do it. Thank goodness it doesn't!

You have nothing to aplogize for. Everyone's recovery is different. I did great in the hospital. I was one of those people walking up and down the hall trailing my IV pole beside me. The day after I got home everything went down hill. Up until that point I think my body was in shock. All of the sudden it realized I had made a major change and it was not happy. Nausea, vomitting, diaherrea, headache, etc. I couldn't (& sitll can't ) tolerate protein drinks. My surgeon has OKed me for soft foods so hopefully that will help with the protein. Things are getting better as I'm sure you know. Hope the rest of your recovery goes well.

Exactly right Cincin...everyone's tolerance for pain is different. I seem to have been one of the fortunate ones. I had surgery and was like you, up walking with IV pole in hand w/in 4 hours. However, I was off pain meds the next day and they sent the home with me but I didn't have pain after that. Just a little discomfort and soreness in the tummy area but not the pain that people talk about being just horrible.

Angel - Hang in there..this is all definitely worth any pain you have. Never regret the decision you made because in the long run it's going to save your life.
