Ok, it's real now. Where's that paper bag?

I just added my surgery date and surgeon to my profile and it hit me - this is actually going to happen! Gulp.

Ok, I have it scheduled, deposit paid, flights booked and paid for, hotel in San Diego booked for the 2 days beforehand, Lovey booked the time off, we talked to our GP about doing my aftercare and I've told the few people I want to know. I've shopped for chewable vitamins, zinc and gas-x, liquid calcium citrate, single serve packets of whey protein, a shaker bottle, protein shakes for my pre-op diet, stocked up on decaf (bah) kcups and my favourite chicken broth.

I still need to: make sure Lovey has clothes that fit for the trip, call our CC company, pack, finish cleaning the house so it'll be pleasant to come home to. What am I missing? (pre-op diet starts on the 18th, surgery is on the 26th)

Thanks! I sure hope so! I'm so excited about the adventure I'm heading into, but also nervous. I'm super fortunate that my family and friends are so supportive

Congrats on your decision! Sounds like you have everything in place and now all you have to do is focus on the pre-op and being in a good healthy state for flying and surgery. I liked having sugar free popsicles or freezies for a change and a way to get in liquids. I also took my own pillow for a bit of extra comfort.

I'll have to look for those - or just buy a couple of sets of moulds and make my own. I was thinking that I could do some with yogurt mixed with crystal light or apple sauce or suchlike for when I'm on full fluids.

I only have to do clear fluids for 10 days after surgery, and do I ever have ideas for my full fluids and mushy stages.

I'm lucky, actually. I don't have to do all liquids. I just have to keep my protein above 60 grams and carbs under 30. I bought shakes with 15 grams of protein and 1 of carb to make it easier to get in he protein, keep the carbs down and still have some wiggle room. (milk for my coffee, some veggies with my chicken or fish)
