I used to be a bacon girl.   Seriously, If someone had invented bacon smooties and I would have been the first one to try it.  I used to eat bacon every single morning.  Now i can't stand the smell of the stuff.

This morning I walked into the deli to get my water and I smell bacon and I thought I was going to throw up and the same thing when I passed by McDonald's I don't like the smell anymore.

Do any you have that  reaction to some food after your sugery?  just wondering.

Very common after surgery. Smells and tastes too. I couldn't stand so many smells, or anything sweet tasting. This will change over time. Hopefully the McDonalds smell will stay bad! That place is repulsive!

I made fresh pesto twice using basil from my garden.  Both times I thought it tasted awful, and that the basil smelled weird.  Both times other people told me it was fine.

That's the only explanation I can think of--that it's my nose!

I still love bacon but I cannot stand any fast food smells and also I was a mayonnaise addict and now the smell and taste repulse me. Also anything with a heavy garlic smell is sickening to me too and I used to love that also. Deep fried food smells are hard to take too.

But on the upside, foods I never gave a second thought to I LOVE and crave like sliced cucumbers and romaine and arugula mixed together for a little salad. Crazy!

I used to be a tuna freak and had a huge tuna (loaded with mayo, of course) sandwich every day for lunch and now I could not imagine. I still enjoy tuna but not like I used to but I make it with a speck of olive oil and oregano and some capers tossed in.

One of the best things about my procedure is I usually don't care what I eat. I don't have the crazy food thoughts and obsessions like I used to have. I would get a food thought in my head and have to get that food pronto and then keep obsessing and eating it until who knows when. That does not happen now, hope it stays that way,

I am having the same issues, even water tastes different. I used to drink water all day, but now I can hardly swallow it. I have had to flavor it to get it down which I never did in the past. I am so sick of sweet stuff! Today I got the ok to progress to mushy stuff. Deli meat, cheese, tuna...I can't wait!
