Long winded whine
Thanks for the suggestions!
I will look into local thrift stores. My bariatric clinic does a clothing exchange twice a year... last time they did it I hadn't gone down any sizes so I didn't get rid of anything but I did get a couple outfits. I've tried on one of the shirts but I haven't tried on the skirt I got there. Thanks!

Gurl, I think you are doing fantastic. 12 pounds your 2nd month is awesome! Don't get discouraged about not dropping sizes so quick because it took me a good 40-50 pounds before I went down a size and then holy moley, the clothes started to get too loose before I could even wear some of the newer clothes I got.
Try the iced coffees at Starbucks. I ask for it with just coffee and SF syrup, then I add my own milk & splenda. I can usually keep that drink around 30 calories.
I think you are doing great my friend! Just think of your progress and where you will be in a few months and even by Christmas. You've got this gurl and your head is in the game.
Luv ya!!!

WWBD?
Can I just say that you are doing awesome? It sounds like you are doing everything you should be doing (except you don't mention taking vitamins - you are doing that, right?) Here are some things I learned from the vets:
- Don't set goals you can't control, like a number on a scale. Set goals like "I will exercise 4x per week" and "I will eat x calories and x grams of protein each day." Because those are the things you can do something about.
- Don't forget about the weight you lost pre-op. That counts too!
- Don't beat yourself up so much about every little thing that you get down on yourself, discouraged, and eventually it impacts your progress. You do need to learn to be your own cheerleader because this is a long road and there are going to be many times when no one else is going to be around to pick you up. Recognize and celebrate the massive and awesome changes you've made for yourself!
- Take your measurements if you haven't already. You will see progress there sometimes when you don't see it on the scale (I will illustrate this below)
Ok, last thing is I want to share my weight loss pattern with you in case it helps.
Pre-op - nothing really
Month 1 - 30.6 lbs (remember I didn't really lose anything pre-op)
Month 2 - 11.4 lbs
Month 3 - 14.6 lbs
Month 4 - 11.0 lbs
Month 5 - 10.4 lbs
Month 6 - 3.6 lbs
Month 7 - 9.4 lbs (at the end of month 7 I decide to start exercising, and start a half marathon training program)
Month 8 - 0 lbs (yes, that is right. After running 4x wk religiously for the first time in my life, eating right, etc - I lost no weight that month. BUT I did go down one whole solid size in clothing. So I never called it a stall. Because I knew I was still shrinking, even if the scale didn't make sense. Trust me, the scale was frustrating, but I dealt with it.)
Month 9 - 3.8 lbs (again, exercising vigorously, eating right, and I get 3.8 lbs. Grr. Still, I stick to the plan.)
Month 10 - (we are only 18 days into my month 10) 12 lbs! Looks like the scale finally decided to catch up to my body...I dropped those 12 lbs in 17 days. How crazy is that?
Yes, get that thyroid checked cause weight can impact it. But bottom line, if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, you WILL see results. Maybe just not on the timeline you expect. Hang in there!

I too think you are doing awesome... heck, I was jealous of you when you got to the end of your first month and had lost 24 pounds!
I learned right after surgery that thrift stores are my friend right now, and will be until I get to goal.
Also, have you tried different brands of the clothing to make sure you're really still a 24? I would go out and try on as many different brands as I could and see what fits right now... you may be surprised. In fact, the mall near me has this thing that you can stand in that will scan your body shape and tell you what sizes you wear in different brands. It's free and takes about 30 seconds. Pretty cool!
Whatever you do, don't get discouraged. You really are rocking that sleeve, and you'll be at goal before you know it!

Thank you! That scanner thing does sound really cool. I have several pairs of 7 jeans in size 24 (from LB) that I kept in hopes of being able to wear them again. My guess is that the stuff LB carries is pretty forgiving, but I could always give a different brand a shot. Thanks for the encouragement, I definitely needed it tonight!
Ditto to what everyone else said. I started drinking Skinny Vanilla Lattes during my 4th month. I just figured the carbs, calories, and protein into my daily totals. It is just skim milk with some expresso. The sugar-free vanilla is calorie free. I don't think it is anything to feel too guilty about. The dietitian didn't think that there was anything wrong with it. Skim milk does have carbs, but it also has protein, calcium, etc. There are worse choices out there. To this day, I have a skinny vanilla latte in the AM and I lost 100 % of my excess weight and have been maintaining within a 2-3 lb range for the past 15 months. *Shrug* There are worse things out there.
Your weight loss is GREAT!!! We always want more and faster, but as long it comes off, that is the important thing.
Get your thyroid checked. My thyroid medication had to be adjusted during the weight loss phase.
Also, weight training will help you to retain your lean muscle mass, which will help to keep your metabolism going, and will help you to burn more calories at rest.
