gallbladder out during sleeve surgery??
VSG on 01/31/12
It is standard for lots of surgeons to remove the gall bladder when they perform the surgery. Some don't require it. I had mine out 8 years prior to the VSG and I haven't missed it a day. If anything, my digestive system works better now that it did then. If it was me, I would have it done all at once to keep from having an additional surgery. It is also a consideration if your surgery is covered by insurance. Better for them to cover the cost.
I had mine out with the sleeve - I ended up getting wls because I was having GB attacks and they couldn't do it in my hospital laproscopically because I was too fat. The surgeon recommended WLS and I explored it and fell in love with the sleeve.
I had surgery 6 months later and had my GB and 85% of my tummy removed. It was nice just having one surgery - getting things all taken care of at once. My first and only surgery - so nothing to compare it to, but not that bad at all!
