Jullienned zuchini, sweet potato and red fingerling potato, and a piece of redfish pan-grilled with lemon juice and blackened seasoning.

Very small dinner all things concerned, but still a bit too much. I could have halved it and been fine.

I am impressed with that menu.  I am afraid to eat anything that isn't protein.  I miss some vegetables and some starches as well.  I also am eating a but too much at a time and it bothers me and I am not learning to be better.  My dinner tonight wasn't close to being that impressive.  All I has was an estimated 3oz of Perdue Simply Smart Lightly Breaded chicken strips.  It is pretty good.  A 3 oz serving is only 6 carbs.  I am working hard at staying about 40 carbs a day which has made it difficult to have anything other than chicken or fish.

Good job on your variety.

Your eyes have to catch up to your stomach. I'm just going to start halving what I make and go from there.

I had chicken shu mai dumplings yesterday for lunch and 4 pieces was just barely one piece too many. I'll go for three today and see how that feels.

Are you taking a multi-vitamin? My doctor wants me to keep on taking mine, of course, but he wants me to get nutrition from my food as well so as long as I'm getting in protein at as many meals as possible vegetables or fruit are yummy bonus.

That sounds great!
I attempted to have a slice of toast with my taco turkey tonight, but it didn't go too well. I managed 1/4 of the piece and my dogs got the rest.
Lest everyone faint at the thought of toast, I buy only 1 kind of bread that has 70 calories, 6 grams of protein and 3 of fibre per slice. With the constipation issues I'm very fond of fibre, and that's the same calorie to protein ratio as an egg. I'll try again on a day that my protein portion is a bit smaller - the turkey was almost 1/2 cup and poor Fred just didn't have any room left.

Hey AnneH,
I had peoblems with constipation the first week after surgery.  The doctor allowed me to go to soft food diet as tolerated,(which surprised me) and I asked about adding fiber to my food.  Now I add benefiber to my daily menu and things have improved quite a bit.  YAY! Benefiber comes in powder form and is easily mixed into anything you mix it into.  LOL, my surgeon mentioned that he wish people would put fiber in their water.  (The thought came into mind, but I haven't tried it yet. Guess I didn't want to mess with my water, yet.)
