Score! Surgery Date 8/20
Hello OH family,
I just got the news today that I'm going to be sleeved on 8/20...less than 3 weeks from now! I'm very happy, but nervous and a little afraid as well.
I will start the liquid diet on Monday-- it looks terrifying. How can I possibly not chew anything for two weeks (and then some post-surgery)? At least I can have coffee (no cream or sugar)-- I'd probably have to be straitjacketed if I had to give up caffeine...
I love reading the posts on this board. So many wonderful insights from people I've never met, but who share this wonderful, amazing, challenge in common.
Wish me luck.

Thats GREAT! GOOD LUCK. Im one week behind you. I too am dreding the liquid diet. I asked the same question, how will i not chew for two weeks? I still dont know! Consider yourself lucky, I cannot have caffeine! Lowering my coffee intake now to prepare. Well let us know how yout doing and congrats!::
Congrats on getting your date! I'm scheduled for 8/15. When I asked my nutritionist about the chewing, she suggested ice chips. I know it's not as good as chewing your favorite food, but with a little imagination, you can do it!
I slowly did away with caffine. I went to the half caffine/half de caf route for a few weeks. Then I went to 3/4 de caf, 1/4 caffine. Then straight de caf. I figured that if I can't handle coffee after surgery, at least I wouldn't get the jitters or headache from that.
Good luck in your journey. Let's compare notes down the road!
