This morning at 5am I was up and on my way to the pool. I am a pretty good swimmer as in I am adept in the water and probably wouldn't drown in a boating accident, but I am not a good swimmer as in form - no Olympic medals of any kind for me! lol

That said, I took my time, concentrated on my rhythm and form and got a kickass workout in 40 minutes. I alternated strokes, did some underwater swimming, held onto the edge to do some good kicking, and relaxed as well. Water is so soothing.

My plan is to do swimming on Tues & Thurs and do gym or running group M, W, F.

I will definitely say that being able to run for 5 or more minutes straight prepped me better for swimming. I was expecting to be shaky and "low blood sugar", but no such thing. I'm going to be sore as hell all over, but it's the good sore!

Great job gurl!!! I know the first time I attempted laps this summer, I couldn't move my arms or shoulders for days. It's a serious workout!!!
Keep up the great exercise gurl!!!

Great job!  I love water workouts too -- they are easy on the joints!  I run and have a full set of exercises I do in the pool (arthritis, bursitis, etc!).  It's a great workout!

Also -- DH gave me a waterproof nano. So I can listen to music when I do my workout.  I think you can use it swimming laps as well -- makes the workout a lot more enjoyable to have a little music!

I'm so very impressing by people who swim for exercise. I'm horribly claustrophobic and I can't have my face in the water for any extended amount of time (I can backstroke, however!) 40 minutes is a huge amount of time to exercise in the water! Yay for you.

Happy for you to be able to get your swimming in!  I'm jealous LOL  Talked to my surgeon and begged to go in my pool...........finally gave me the "go ahead" to start last week -- just walking, no actual swimming (danged umbilical hernia repair.......GRRR).  Anyway, I got to thinking -- we've had the hottest summer on record here, but now that I can get in the pool, it will probably turn cold and I won't want to get in water that cold -- it's not  heated pool.  Sure enough..........temps have been in the low to mid 70s and I'm a wuss and won't go in the pool for fear of freezing my tuchas off!

I WANT to lose the tuchas, but just not that way!  LOL

Enjoy yourself -- it's a great workout.  Do an extra lap for me???  Hahahaha

A little bit of an NSV too - the suit I bought is a Speedo - for swimming not for modeling - and it was pretty snug when I first got it two weeks ago. Not so snug today! In fact, I'll probably have to shorten the shoulder straps soon to prevent wardrobe malfunction.
