My friend had her Surg on 10/31/2012. Today as well as yesterday she has been in so much " gas pain" she has been on Fentanyl ( wow) . I thought maybe some of my friends on OH would be more knowledgeable about how to get rid of this gas quicker. ? thanks in advance

Getting up and moving really, really helps.  I know it's the last thing she feels like, but even standing up and shuffling around the bed will help things for her.  Like, hourly.  Not once a day and say it didn't work.

Hope she feels better pronto!

Walk, walk, and walk some more.  There really isn't a quick fix.  She can try the GasX strips and see if they help, but walking and waiting is really all that'll work.

Maybe some gasX strips? Walking...passing gas....poor her! I had no gas pain. My surgeon said he sucks 99% of it out before the final stitch. I bought all the gasX and tums I could find and...well...they are still here. Unopened.

My friend has her surgery a month ago and said that by the time she left the hospital she was up to a mile a day!  She was afraid of blood clots too, so really worked at it.  And she had no pain.  My surgery is next month and I plan to take my track shoes and pedometer and walk walk walk...if that's what it takes.

Good Luck.  And she's lucky to have a good friend like you to help her.

Never dreamed that I could feel this good about myself again.  Looking forward to many healthy years now.

WALK...  that's all that helps..  gets things moving..  as much as it hurts to get up out of bed, it feels great to walk around.  Best of luck to your friend and to you on your upcoming surgery.  Best thing I ever did...

Have a wonderful day.  kiss

Walking - -but the other thing I've seen that helps some people is a heating pad.

Best wishes to her!

OK this sounds and will look real stupid but a nurse told me and I can attest it does work. Pull your knees up as close as you can to your chest and hold it as long as you can. May have to do it several times but something about that position moves things along.

That's what you do to babies when they're constipated or gassy. Put their knees to their chest and back down a bunch of times.

Yep, that was what the nurses told me when I had my first.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
