Are you at home already?  I don't think my surgeon would release me under those conditions.  He's pretty conservative.

No I'm still in the hospital. The plan was to go home today but that didn't quite work out

I felt much bigger after surgery than I did before it!  I was so full of gas and fluids I was describing my body as looking like the Marshmellow man from Ghostbusters!!  I gained about 8 pounds after surgery.

But by about a week later, I felt normal again.  It does get better!

Your feeling of starving is likely to be head hunger rather than real hunger. Just distract yourself to stop thinking about food and eating and keep sipping away on the fluids. I lived on vegetable broth and watered down cranberry juice for the first 3 weeks. Fluids are your absolute priority at the moment.

I hear ya. My legs were so huge you couldn't see any bones at all. Ankles, gone, knees, gone. I just felt like I wanted someone to stick a pin in me!...lol

Just remember, you're in the best place possible right now if you're still in the hospital.  Just make sure you tell the nurses how you're feeling.  My nurses were amazing.  They'll help you through this.

I'm sorry you aren't have a good post op experience. Are you walking? I know it hurts to get up and back down but walking really did help me get the gas out (mostly got stuck in my shoulders). I say walk and sip water! I couldn't't tolerate cold water at first so I drank it luke warm. Plus the fluids in your IV will bloat you a little. At least it did for me.

IT WILL GET BETTER :) GL to you and hoping you a speedy recovery!
