and my surgery was CANCELED
Hi Autumn,
well all I can think of is go on Google and find a hospital in your area that has done this procedure many times and is listed as such. Also you can Google hospitals with an excellent rating maybe?
Call your insurance and ask them who THEY have listed as an acceptable hospital choice, maybe they can give you guidance.
Hope it works out for you!!

Just need to find a Center of Excellence hospital and move the whole thing there. Just one caveat: if your surgeon isn't affiliated with a Center of Excellence, you may need to use a different surgeon. It's probably not an issue but you need to know so you can work the issue. Especially if you are trying to have the surgery in this calendar year.
A set back, but not a defeat! Call your insurance and ask them for the approved hospitals in your area. Then call your doctor and tell him which ones you can use. Find out which ones he can work out of and approves. If he does not have access to any of those hospitals then you will need to look for another surgeon.
I had the same thing happen to me. I went to a hospital that my insurance company (United Healthcare) said was a center of excellence and they still denied the hospital. My surgeon's office went to bat and won. Luckily it was just a delay of about 2 weeks.
Call your insurance company and get the list of hospitals they have a centers of excellence. All your medical tests can be forwarded to them so you don't lose all that time.
Good luck!
