Merry Christmas everyone!!

My surgery was last Thursday so this makes day 6 post op.  The gas pains are horrible.  Everything else is fine but the gas under my ribs and in my chest is killing me.  I'm walking but do not seem to get any relief.  I'm also taking Maalox.  It's worse under my left side than anywhere else.  How long can I expect it to last.

Walk, walk, walk, walk- go to the mall- walk the stairs in your house- you are going to burp and fart the more you move

HI!  I think its different for all of us.  BUT I walked ALOT in the hospital (every hour).  Had lots of gas pains and just KEPT walking them out.  I am ONE WEEK post op today and feel amazing.  I can't believe it.  But I do/did lots and lots of walking.  I didn't start passing gas unitl 4 days post op.  I could only burb until then.  Feel better soon and keep up the walking the gas will get out.

The gas pains were the worst part of recovery for me too! I am exactly 3 weeks post-op right now and it took me about 9-11 days to get rid of the surgery gas. I walked NON-STOP. It was the only thing that helped me. I drank lots of water as well. I also drank my protein while walking circles in my house. Took me about 5 days for gas to start coming out but it did

Good luck!

My surgery was 1 week ago today! Once I was able to finally burp, I felt immense relief. I have a treadmill because it's very cold where I live and I am on there about 4-5 times a day, walking about 5-7 minutes each time. It has helped me. I can't take in much at a time though or I get stomach gas. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.
