My 3 week stall turned into a 6 week stall.  I get in my fluids and my protein, except for the few days I was sick.  Damn cold.

Thankfully, I know what my problem is.  The dreaded holiday carbs.  So I have initiated a 200 cal reduction and as little carbs as possible.  According to MFP, my carbs have been in the 40-60 range.  Apparently too high to lose weight.  Calories have been in 600-700 range.  Want to keep @ 500-600.  Want the carbs to be under 40.

Does this sound like a reasonable approach?  I have never counted calories, carbs etc so all this is new to me.

It's just a stall as your body reacts and adjusts to surgery more than what you are eating. At 600-700 calories a day, you still have a significant deficit each day.

Don't do too much fiddling with your NUTs plan this early out. The stall WILL end.

Just keep measuring yourself too as often when you don't lose, you will still shrink. I've only lost 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks, but have lost another 3 inches of measurements, so while the scale isn't doing much, my body clearly still is.

Stalls or slower/no loss weeks are likely to happen many times for each of us. You just have to stick to plan and ride it out.

Do check with your nutritionist, but I think dropping your calories and carbs to the amounts you've suggested is probably a good idea.

LIMITING YOUR CALORIES SO MUCH SOMETIMES CAN MAKE YOU GO INTO STARVATION MODE, SO BE CAREFUL...  I AM A STAIR STEP LOSER, I STALL ALL THE TIME BUT IT IS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A DRAMATIC DROP THEN ANOTHER STALL.  PLAY WITH YOUR NUMBERS AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY GIVE.

Thanks girls, for sure the carbs need to drop if not the calories.  I just deviated over Xmas and need to make better choices.  I appreciate the input.

Hi there,

I am in the same boat my dear. It has been exactly 4 weeks since my WLS tomorrow and my scale has been stuck or goes up in the past week and a half. Talking about being frustrated.

I also log all my food on MyFitnessPal and every time I log it, it tells me I am in starvation mode and that I need to consume more calories so I will lose weight again. Go figure?

Yes I heard about the stalls also, but it is very upsetting when it happens to you personally. I won't give up though and neither should you. We can do this.

Hugs,

Rita

Yeah it's for "normal" ppl!  But the frustration level is still high.

I am in the same boat as you!  I was sleeved 11/12 and was so happy when 3 weeks went by, I kept losing, and thought "hmmm...guess I won't get that 3 week stall everyone talked about!"  Little did I know, it was just lying in wait for me until week 6!! LOL  Scale hasn't moved in two weeks, but I too have not been as diligent as I should be with the food choices I've made this week.  Lesson learned.

BTW, MFP also tells me I'm always in starvation mode because according to it, I'm eating too few calories and carbs (cal around 500/day and I try to keep carbs under 40)  It says I should have 1200 calories and 165 carbs a day!!

Hopefully, we'll both be back to losing soon!!  Best of luck and keep us posted!
