This isn't forever, and you're wrong.
Thank you for posting! I have never had the attitude to eat what I want, and in my head i know exactly what I should be eating. I am educated on nutrition and have been talking with Elina on foods that are great for us but keep us full at the same time. The problem is fighting the head hunger. When you said eating carbs causes us to be hungry, I think unfortantly that is what i have done to myself this holiday (for about a week) and now I can't seem to be satisfied. It's easier to just turn down the crap instead of fighting this afterwards!
You are an inspriation!!
I feel you, sister. I was doing the pre-op diet from Oct. to my surgery date, and I fell off the low-carb wagon around Thanksgiving and again when I had a cookie party, and man, it was hard to climb back on. Good news is that once you cut them out/down, it gets easier. And I don't know about you, but "natural" carbs like the ones in veggies don't trigger the crazy cravings in the same way that bread, pasta, baked goods, etc. do.
Great perspective! Thank you. I am happy without the carbs, however there are times where I'd REALLY like to indulge a little like last night at the BBQ place those hot yummy cornbread muffins looked divine and smelled even better. I took a little bit off the top of one, put a little bit of butter on it and was satisfied with the one bite. That is what this very strict diet has done for me. I can have a little of the "forbidden" foods having learned to be satisfied with the small bite or two. That's where the commitment comes into play. Very physically fit people will have a sliver of pie, a little whole grain pasta, or a bit of ice cream... they have a healthy view of food for what it really is: sustenance. They find their satisfaction in achieving their weight goals and still allow themselves to live a little in moderation. While some (people I know that say "I could NEVER do that!" included) find this time extremely difficult I see this as just another tool to set the tone for my eating habits for life. I am grateful having broken my carb addiction. Truth is, that cornbread muffin wasn't nearly as satisfying as that amazing slow cooked BBQ chicken. We have undergone an extreme measure to become healthy but the journey will do more for me personally, the sleeve simply facilitating the change.
