Can we talk Acid Reducers (PPI and H2) ?
When I came home from surgery, my doctor prescribed PrevAcid meltaway's, 30mg once a day. They worked GREAT (kinda expensive though). I took them for the first two week, and then got so overwhelemed and grossed out by the sweet taste that I had to switch to Prevacid (generic) (Lansoprazole CVS brand) capsules (which I break open and dump either on my tongue or with a small spoon of apple sauce) which I have been taking ever since...and this doesn't seem to be working as well--not even close.
So, here's my questions...
1 Do they make chewable (NOT meltaway something I can chew and swallow) PPI or H2 in an OTC?
2. Do they make an OTC meltaway that isn't sickeningly sweet ?(fruity, etc. just isn't working...) I could do mint...
3. Could this be a sign that Prevacid (and generic) isn't working anymore for me?
Previous to surgery, I had an ulcer and was taking Protonix but apparently it was delayed release......Do they make that in "regular" (verses delayed release)?
I don't go back to see the surgeon for another 6 weeks (although I do go to my NUT next week), and don't wait another 6 weeks to discuss it...I know if I have a solution in mind, I can call the office and either the PA or surgeon will either write the script or okay it...but I'm lost, and stuck with a stomach full of acid that's mimicking hunger!!!
I have the same issue. I'm almost 2 weeks post op. I was prescribed generic prevacid but breaking that capsule open is such a pain. it gets stuck in my teeth. Also, i always feel extremely nauseous when i take it where i cant even drink fluids. So i just stopped taking it. I have an appt with my surgeon on Wednesday so I will run it by him.
I dont think Prevacid and I get along
