I was 206 lbs preop and 198 on day of surgery.  I thought I'd lose more but didn't .  I was on a 2 week liquid diet.

Like others have said, seems to vary by dr. My dr requires a preop diet for 4 weeks which limits carbs to 30 per day and requires 5% weight loss pre surgery. Counting the carbs really helps - some protein drinks are high in fat and sugar/carbs. The ones from Costco are low in carbs. Carb counting also limits fruits which I miss!

PS - my surgery is the day after yours! Good luck! I'll look forward to hearing how it goes!

I started my journey on 9/11/14. I met with my NUT and she wanted me to be mindful of a few simple things: water, carbs, etc. I took it to heart and by 12/12/14 had dropped 15 pounds. On 12/15/14 I started my pre-op diet. I lost 13 pounds on that--6.5 per week. I was sleeved on 12/29/14 and have lost around 17 lbs for a total of 45 lbs. you are fine. I have two friends who were sleeved--one lost 6 and the other 20. Everyone is different. Good luck.

I started pre-op at 284. Had to do 7 days liquid only. I drank at least 90 grams of protein a day (90 is still what i'm expected to get now so I needed to get used to getting that much). On the day of my surgery I weighed in at 270, so I lost 14 lbs.

My husband had to do a 2 week pre-op. His pre-op included select vegetables, and some other items as long as his food calories stayed below 350 he was fine (although he preferred to go all liquid during his second week).  He lost about 18 lbs, although he started around 434 lbs.

I think a lot of it has to do with how much fluid you naturally retain, how much you weight to begin with, and how much you actually drink / eat if allowed. Best of luck - it's worth it
