Rice with su****ortilla with taco; forget that, I am going all out and having my chocolate chips with my ice cream, whipped cream with my pie and Kahlua with my coffee.

No way, Jose. Even the so-called low carb ones would double the amount of carbs I eat in a day. Just doesn't seem worth it. I also work from home, so making a protein shake if I'm busy or in a hurry is no biggie

I think I disagree slightly here. Usually I don't with you so sorry. I have them on occasion for breakfast (2x a week but just ran out....the oh yeah! pb protein sticks are AMAZING)....really liking the protein "wafers" though and I count those carbs in and adjust accordingly and still stay under 40. I wouldn't say protein bars are the devil if they are lower in calories....net carbs (and low sugar).....and have a whey protein source. Now if they are a "trigger" food for someone then that is entirely different.

And NO I won't eat rice or a tortilla thank you very much!!!

No need to hide under the chair !!!!

We actually agree..... you obviously are very aware and they seem to fit nicely into your program.

These protein bars can be very easily abused..... and 200cals can be ingested like nothing..... for me I'd rather have a meal.....

These things are like protein crack/high for me! Since my last box I bought, have realized it is a red light food. Regardless it being only 200 cals. I used to tell myself a quick breakfast before work, then after work a snack, and bedtime snack. You get the point! ...They don't keep you satisfied very long. You know how quick it is to pouch a soft egg and warm a real piece of meat protein and slam it in a Thermos for just over a 100 calories. I know not the best smelling thing. But, it keeps you full longer and you're eating real protein/ amino acids, what our bodies need. It satisfies you and lasts a lot longer. Not chemically produced shyte! That's just my 2 cents worth!

I hear you! Protein bars can be useful...the only ones I eat include the EAS Carb Control (1/2 at a time), Quest bars, and the Chocorite (for use while traveling). Only in moderation, though. :) And I don't do tortillas, rice, or any bread.

Now now, I use the Quest bars when I travel.  High protein, high fiber, low carb.  Of course, they taste just a tad like cardboard, but are nutrionially sound.

I don't need or want the protein bars... And I can't have tortilla (unless it is a white flour one and event hat is a bit much now I am sure)...

But I can't have rice with my sushi? Oh gawd you're gonna make me cry... I was so looking forward to a few pieces when I hit maintenance a couple times a year.

Or a tablespoon full of basmati when I am having something indian for dinner.

*sits in the corner and pouts*

Kidding about the pouting... but I will plan moments where something like rice comes into my life when I am at goal. Will it be a staple? No... Never was before.

I am not a carb monster... I am the meat and cheese girl. VSG has just given me instant portion control for how I prefer to eat in the first place.

Once you are in maintenance you very well might be able to have a little rice on sushi and a tablespoon of basmati rice.  The rules shift a bit in maintenance and you have to find your comfort zone. I can have more carbs now, nothing dramatic but more than in weight loss.  I even have a piece of really good bread once in a rare while or some dessert.  However, those are the very first things I would cut out completely if my scale was even a tiny bit up.  There is/can be more room to maneuver and still maintain.  I think the big deal is staying conscious and mindful and eating clean food 90% of the time.
