Why Can't I Break this stall?
I have lost the same 1-2lbs since december. I'm doing everything I should be according to my surgeons plan. I'm 7mo out and down 82 lbs. 89lbs from my heaviest. I get about 650-900 calories, 20-50 carbs, 80-100g protein. I exercise 3-4 days a week. I'm used to stalls, but this one is really driving me nuts. My nutritionist has different guidlines compared to what the majority are doing here. She suggests balanced meals. Some grains and fruits are triggers for me so I stay away from almost all. I do eat green veggies and small salads. Raw veggies are still hard for me. I am open to all suggestions. Thanks for you help.
You don't mention how much water you are drinking? If you are exercising you should be getting like 100oz. I am in a stall right now that is going on 3 weeks. I figured out that in periods of lower fats I stall. I have upped my fats and the scale is starting to move a little bit but nothing dramatic. Add fats (good fats Polyunsaturated/Omega-3) to between 35 and 45g and see what happens. Also water, water is a big thing. If you don't get enough, you will retain.
I had an 8 week stall in November/December when I played ping pong with 3-4 pounds. It nearly drove me off the deep end! I went back and did 3 days of my preop diet (3 Ensure High Protein meal replacements and non starchy veggies, nothing else added) and one heck of a lot of water and that seemed to get things moving again as I am down 16 pounds for the month of January. Just remember this to shall pass and the scale will move again. Why don't you take your measurements and see what the inches are doing at this point...I bet they are shrinking!
Hang in there!
Does your exercise routine involve weight lifting? If so, GREAT!! Muscle weighs more than fat, but will ultimately burn WAY more fat once the weight loss resumes. This is the hurdle I am at now. My surgery was Nov 16. I have only lost 30lbs. But I am lifting and I know that my inches lost tell a better story than the scale would tell.

Ms Shell you crack me up! I do think it weighs more than one pound of feathers...
I too have gain/lost the same 3-5lb for December/January. After looking through my food journals I saw my calories creeping up and my carb choices becoming worse and worse. Monday I went back to basics, liquid/pureed post op diet. My plan is to continue with this for 8 days then bump up to soft for 4-8 days and then back to general diet. Detoxing the carbs out in the process.
It's a general reset, I wrote down my goals like 1. take my vitamins EVERY DAY (I have not been good at this), 2. drink 64-100oz fluid every day 3. MOVE at least 1 hour every day. My meals are pre-planned and ready to go for the next two weeks, Sunday I made a BIG pot of Red Southwestern Chicken Soup from Elina's recipe, portioned it out into single size servings, got my shakes all lined up and made a double batch of SF jello, and bought some greek yogurt. I don't have to think, it is all there and ready for me.
Since Monday the scale has started its downward journey again, I'm crossing my fingers that it continues.
You are going to get many suggestions as to what to do, this is mine, take it for what it's worth.
1) Eat less- I would stay closer to 600-700 calories for the next few weeks
2) Keep your carbs under 20 for the next few weeks
3) Keep your proteins consistently around 100 grams.
4) Drink 100 ounces of water
Let me know what happens after three weeks.
