YoYoing Right Now and a few bad days
Great that you are averaging those 90 g of protein. I remember reading that you've had struggles with the vitamins and such which have caused you to have bad days.
Let there be no mistake that I really admire you for how intensely you do your research and how serious you are about this, including your exercise!
When I think satiety, I think of those dense proteins sitting there at a meal, not passing through the pyloric valve right away. That's why I asked how your protein intake was going.
I'm really glad you posted about this, because it's important. Your accountability is awesome.
Satiety I think is more mental. For example last night after I ate only turkey breast for dinner to keep my carbs below 20 and I was full I still wanted something. I did not feel satisfied. I was certainly craving carbs. I will do the next few days of extremely low carbs to see if I can shake it.
I also just want to be clear that when I say I had a few hiccups over a couple weeks, it is really just that, its not days of high carb, it was one day here and there. But the net effect was this Yo Yo.
I hit it hard yesterday with less than 600 cals less than 20 carbs and I did 90mins of cardio. My net calories for yesterday were over negative 1100. This morning I was down 2 lbs.
This can probably all be summed up as a my body making adjustments. I have certainly gotten used to my level of exercise since I was easily able to increase my cardio to 90 mins with no problems whatsoever. I must have gotten used to how I am eating too.
You're further postop than I am, so I can see now how the satiety effect could be different. Good point. This is how I learn. :)
Another good point is referring to raising your set point for exercise, if that's the right term, because your lighter self is burning less calories now just in the course of daily living.
The bottom line is that IMVHO you've been doing great and really do show through your posts that you are determined to see this process through, adjusting as you go along. Keep up the good work!
I shall go out on a limb because from reading your posts you are changing things up. I know BOTH of my Personal Trainers have told me to stay off the scale and ONLY weigh from month to month (they are NUTS) but they said because with resistence you are building muscle and sometimes you ADD 3lbs of muscle but you don't SUBTRACT any weight.
It is truly ******g me off but I do understand it and as such have been staying away from the scale. I have NO idea what the next couple of weeks will bring because I am giving myself a few meals and drinks this week...which considering I NORMALLY celebrate the whole month. I have some friend really upset at me.
Our old habits are THERE sitting in weight so you must STAY vigilant because while you've been doing GREAT recently you have DECADES of bad habits to overcome.
Ms Shell
I have the opposite opinion. I spent the first 3 months only recording my losses and when I recognized i had a problem with stalls I was able to go back and see that my stalls showed up every time I cut fat. When I tracked my macro nutrients back to my weight for the days I realized that it is just as important to record a few ounce gain as it is to record a few ounce loss. In the short term it doesn't show anything, but over a 3 month period it tells you a whole story, when you hold that up against your nutritional record for that same time, you get to see patterns. So I weigh every day and I record my weight now. I actually get on the scale some time 3 times a day just to see how a work out impacts the scale or going to the bathroom. Its all about learning how different things impact your body.
I have not had my VSG yet but I always enjoy reading your posts and how encouraging you are to other members of the board. I guess the only thing that I can offer (and this is a stretch) is to go back to what was working for you. You have done an amazing job so far and should be so proud of yourself. Slip ups will happen and then you just pull yourself together and get back on track. You can and will do this!!!!
