The Sleeve and higher weight...opinions?
Hey guys! I posted here recently asking what people thought about the sleeve... then I posted in the main forum wondering if many people have experienced WLS around my age, 25. I have about 190 pounds to lose, and I want the sleeve because it seems more logical to me than any other surgery. I worry a lot about malabsortion too. However, I am getting responses on my post in the main forum saying since I have so much to lose, that the DS would be better.
Does anyone here have experience loosing a higher amount of weight on the sleeve?
Did you find it harder...wish you would have gotten RNY or DS?
I'm about twice your age... so if anything my metabolism shouldn't be tippy top.
Seems to have worked for me. See my stats below. Not sad that I didn't get one of the other surgeries... very satisfied. I thought all along that I could revise to DS is this just didn't work...but it has.

Beyond Goal
I had 170 lbs to lose, and lost it in about 7.5 months. The DS was my back-up option that I wound up not needing. There are people in my support groups losing 200 or more pounds with the sleeve.
The surgery is not the determining factor. Your commitment to the program - both after care (support groups/counseling, etc.) and diet/exercise/nutrition will determine your overall success.

Nothing in life is free and that's true of WLS as well. Yes, it would be easier for you to lose and maintain with the DS, however, that ease comes with a price. Are you willing to pay it? That's up to you. I know plenty of people that have gotten to goal losing even more than what you have to lose, but they all really worked hard at it, were committed to doing whatever it took and had a fantastic surgeon and support team. You know yourself best, you really need to decide this based on some soul searching. I didn't want the malabsorption of vitamins for the rest of my life so I was willing to put in more work. The DS is a bigger, stronger tool, but if you choose it, you choose the lifestyle and issues that go with it too.
I started at 315 before surgery, and I am 26 years old. I had a total of 160+ to lose (I am more than half way there, gotta keep plugging along!)
Not necessarily a higher weight success (Like Allison, ruggie, rob, etc) yet, but it is possible and I know for me I don't regret my sleeve :)
