Over My Calories By 916
I had an opportunity tonight to attend a wine tasting and gourmet food pairing. It was incredible. I know a fair amount about wine and this was a new winery. I was a bit worried that the wines would be terrible. They turned out to be incredible. The food that came with it was amazing. I did very good on potion control and only at a bite or to of each course. I stayed away from the amazing looking appetizers. Food wise didn't do too bad. But the wine was the killer but when you are sitting with the winery owners you don't say no to a bit more of their premium reserve bottles that you can't even buy. I will have to make up for this day some how but what a great night.
Pit made me realize something tough and I have seen vets and others touch upon this. I think to truly be successful at this you have to find balance between your journey and the rest of life. Passing on gourmet food and wine for someone who cooks is a mortal sin. I did not eat everything on my plate and I did not pass on desert. I did not say no to the extra pours of some of the best wines I have ever had. I did say now to the four courses of appetizers and the chips at the bar afterward. It was not gourmet food that made me fat it was the lack if ability to distinguish between foods that were worth a few more calories and carbs because an artist assembled them in a way that provided pleasure on multiple plains versus something that tasted good and you could eat a lot of. Tonight was almost a religious experience. Worth it? YES! I will see it on the scale tomorrow and I will work a little harder over the next couple days to fix it. I drank a lot of wine. I did not get drunk or have any issues with it. I don't have any desire to drink tomorrow. I did not stuff myself. Even though I am WAY over on calories and carbs I think tonight was a win.
on a side note I also had a slice of pizza today (part of the 916 cals and iwas only able to eat about 1/3 of it. Yeah sleeve.
My one takeaway from tonight is that venison is very low cal for a dense protein and I will see if I can eat more of it.
And no I don't think any of you should try this at home. It was a risk. But I think it's gonna work out. This time.
Of course you will have your critics...some will directly say something, others will allude to it in a different thread (not sure if you've noticed this trend) but I think tonight is a success for you.
I dont subscribe to the notion of cutting out everything except protein and MAYBE some low carb veggies if you have room. I am not anti-carb nor am I anti-alcohol ( though Ive only had maybe 2 sips since Ive been sleeved).. I also do not believe in not living...Much of America's social life is based on food outings...and the sleeve doesn't have to make one the party pooper.

You need to increase your diet by 1,000 calories per day, or 7,000 calories per week, in order to gain 2 lbs. per week, according to the University of Maryland, which reports that 3,500 calories equals 1 lb. of body weight.
By this calculation combined with the fact that I know you are going to add a lil extra to your next few workouts means I doubt you will see much of a difference, if any.... at MOST maybe a half pound or a day's "stall"
I vote you do 3 extra workouts ( in 3 consecutive days) that will burn ~300 calories each...
Good Luck and I hope ya have no guilt.....
I think you have a really good attitude. It's not like you are going to go to something like this every night, and you enjoyed and savored the food and wine, you didn't mindlessly shovel it in! I have friends that are chefs and I have friends that own vineyards...I know somewhere in my journey I will still be enjoying some really good food (just a lot less of it!) and a glass of wine...not for a long while, but still, I know I will down the road. I'll keep your post in mind.
One Our Father and 3 Hail Mary's for you!!!
My wine drinking friends **** me off. None of them have ever had a weight problem. Me, who hardly ever touches the stuff except to cook with, had to have WLS!!
Special occasions happen....one must decide which ones are worth the extra calories and carbs. This is a life long journey. Get used to living with it for the duration. It is more important to develop the POWER to get back on track over and over again, than it is to force yourself into an unrealistic way of eating that you will not want to sustain even if you could.
For me this in not a linear journey, but one which takes many detours but always goes in the right direction.

What ever dude......
I don't buy into it one bit...... I think it shows in spades a lack of commitment, lack of a program and a cry for justification....
Mortal sin..... right.....
You post daily about all this research and studies and then the wind blows and your done.....
So, you presented and justified..... it's your right on a public forum..... yay for you.....
I'd rather commend the viewers of your post that are hanging on by a thread and thinking they wouldn't have done that......
You do know that only about half the people that have this procedure ever make goal or something close to it......
Read this thread a few posts down: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/vsg/4609105/Do-it-now-Do-i t-right/
I get the whole thing about living life...... life after goal that is..... I get invited to the L.A. Food and Wine every year, my job puts me in front of private chefs every so often..... I love that stuff..... at goal......
In the end.... you have your opinion and approach and I have mine...... and I would disagree on this one.....

I am not looking for validation or for anyone to say it was OK. I put this out here for the same reason Elina posted about her bad day a while back. To make sure this does t happen a lot.
As always I appreciate your feedback. We don't often agree but that is why I like this public forum. I am not off track. I have a plan and its not so different from yours. I am down 120 lbs and exercise every day. I will make goal because I am committed I can recover from this choice.
Just a couple things......
First.... I think you are doing well.... can't argue the numbers.....
You have been here long enough now to see how many people struggle..... this kind of post doesn't help much.....it says plan on stepping out and attempt to recover.......that's more of a maintenance mentality.....
I have about 6 PM's sitting in my hopper right now with people trying to get it back together......
You can't really compare this situation to Elina's..... completely different.......you still have several WL stages to navigate through.....she's been at goal for 3 years......You might not see it right now.... but you will.....
And I would say our plans are pretty different.....
