I come to this forum to read a variety of responses and opinions. Although constructive criticisms can be good, they often go too far. I did not put down individual names because I did not feel that was necessary and I still don't. I have said in the past and will reiterate here that I think it is good that people that have already traveled this road or the "vets" take the time to offer information and tips. I will also reiterate that there is more than one successful way to get to goal. It is unfortunate that you took offense to my response and I do not feel the need to "block" anyone. I am fully capable of skipping certain posts and I often do. Since this is not the first time you have taken personal offense to one of my postings I guess you may feel better blocking me. We all need to do what we see is best for our own path. I have found some useful information in some of your posts also...as I have in Keith's. Now again I will take a few days away from this site and let the criticisms fall where they may.

Can you please list for us the other successful ways to get to goal that works for most the people on this board ????

Thanks....

Ahhhh Frisco...figured I would hear from you. Didn't claim to have a "successful way" that works for "most". That I believe is your area. I merely stated that there is more than one way. I am sure you can use the search bar if you don't remember those that have been successful and also maintained on different eating plans. Perhaps a few of your own comments on this forum will help...."Commitment and compliance...work on that as your base core"    "Most of the ones that don't do well....just plain ran outta commitment." " Can it be done in other ways...Yes."  "Are there different ways for different people...yes." You said all of these things to people on this forum. I will say once again that I think having people in maintenance taking the time to post suggestions here is great. I also feel that not everyone can follow or needs to follow only "one" plan. I think most know..per their surgeons(hopefully) that we do need more protein and like Everyone should be low calorie. I also think it would not be a bad thing to try to remember when you were first finding your way here too....people in the first year especially seem to be more emotional and are often finding the balance that helps them achieve results. I can NOT follow the plan you continually post due to some new intolerances/allergies since surgery. It made me afraid at first that that was it...no way could I be successful at getting healthier.I felt surely the "vets" who constantly post must know more...and I know others think this also. I will be successful because I do have the "commitment and compliance" to my own medically approved plan. We do see most people on this board posting the same basic eating plan you do.... I just know from the little time I have been here (through pm to me and other posts) that many that do not follow it and are doing well simple choose not to continue to post because of the negative responses they receive, Me I guess I am a glutton for punishment. Thanks for responding to this so that I felt I needed to come on and provide a timely response(had planned on taking a few days away from this forum for sanity sake)... At one time you posted "The Frisco ain't perfect".... I know I'm not......so..... I guess we will just have to disagree on "the one" way of eating.

I know there are success stories to certain individuals that have followed different plans...... I've coached a few and several got to goal.

You just mentioned "other" plans..... I think I've seen many of them.... just thought you could list some successful known plans that I wasn't aware of......

There is a big difference between between recommending a plan that has a high success rate....... and insinuating that all plans work equally as well..... cause that simply is not true.....

Also remember..... most all plans seem to work till month 4-6....... after that a lot changes.......

There are also many stages and adjustments within the WL phase and many more in maintenance.....

I'm glad you found your strategy for your given issues and tolerances...... you had no choice and did what you had to do.....

Yes I did what I had to do for my health...however I always have choices. That is the wonderful thing...I also choose not to stand on a high horse....they tend to get a bit wobbly.

Frisco posts the question of please list the other ways people make it to goal..

Snarky comment as usual.  But here goes:

First two months post op at or under 800, low carb 40 range.  Terrible plan for me.  And I do mean terrible.

Exercise started as soon as I was cleared.  6 days a week, about an hour or so a day typically.

Went to support group meetings.

Next two months increased calories and carbs, loss went great.  Constipation abated and I felt a ton better!

1200 calories by the end of month 4 beginning of month five range, carbs (net) at 100 or so.  Felt great and weight loss was steady.

Alternated 15 and 30 carbs to keep insulin levels and cravings in check- works great!

Oh, and goal at 8 months.  Yea,  lots of here get to goal and have a nutritionally balanced plan.

Maintenance has been easy so far.

No snarkiness needed- just a rock solid plan with a great bariatric team approach.

Thanks Happy Teacher. That was all I was saying. There is more than one way to achieve success with the VSG. I am happy that you have been one. I too could not eat on the plan so popularly touted on this forum. Unfortunately I have also seen many people that have chosen to no longer share as much because they could not fit the mold and were treated poorly...or as is said here "constructive criticism". I have worked in jobs where I dealt with the public for over 30 years....so have developed a thicker skin than some. I expected the basic responses I got....but, I feel an overall healthy balanced eating approach is something I can maintain for many years. I plan to post on here too one day that I have a long maintenance period with my current eating plan. Of course by than...I wouldn't be surprised if another "popular plan" is in place. To Your Health!

Elina,

Your response to the original post was great. You are always kind and respectful. I always enjoy your posts and appreciate your responses to my posts. Not everyone' puts as much thought into their responses as you do. I took it all in stride. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. You made some excellent points in your response. You are one of my inspirations and I read all of your posts and responses.

Lots of positives there, Keith!  Being able to walk so much at the parks is definitely an NSV of which to be proud!

Congratulations also on being able to pull back onto plan because you made the choice to do so, despite all of the temptations you encountered.   I'm so proud of you!

I missed the original post, but you knew what you needed to do. It's hard to get away from the sidetracks. I'm not perfect. I do things that I'm not supposed to. That's the thing, you have to learn what you absolutely have to avoid, and what things you can get away with. It's ok to slide once in a while, but not letting yourself get into habits is the kicker.

Get back to it man, you've got it working!

Glad to hear about your trip and that you've kept the scale moving down. As another who will plan my intake to include some small level of super special items, but have rarely done it (sometimes it's just knowing that I "could" do it, prevents me!) -- I am curious.

Did the cravings, etc. that you experienced make you reconsider the choice in retrospect?  Or were they at the level you expected, planned for and knew you could deal with?

How will you modify your approach next time you are faced with something super special?  Or are you satisfied with how this worked out?

LOL - - or is it not worth the potential hate to answer?
