Food Funeral Fail *facepalm*

Last night, my last night of solid food for 8 weeks, I couldn't even bring myself to have a proper food funeral. I've been on a high protein low carb 1200 calorie diet for a month and today I start my liquid pre-op diet for two weeks...then the VSG train is coming.

I had planned on an 8 oz filet mignon with fried asparagus and a huge decadent salad. A few vodka's and cheesecake for dessert. I was going to have a proper funeral.

I wimped out and had a cup of chicken salad and crystal light and stayed on plan. I'm such a failure. I hear the "cheaters forum" I also belong to is asking to revoke my membership.

I love my protein shakes.....I love my protein shakes....I love my protein shakes

Hahaha, what an awesome "failure" I think in the long run you're much better off :)

Your epic fail came when you chose the word "decadent" to explain an effing salad. The very next sentence talks about a boring old Vodka cheesecake.

Seriously, you need to work on your priorities.

Decadent salad??? Really???

Screw the Vodka cheesecake. I'll have the decadent salad.

Vodka and water with a Lime (multiple) AND a New York Style Cheesecake. The salads at Perry's Steakhouse are so huge and full of high carb items...yes, it's decadent. And oh so delicous. And anyway, it was my dream.

Okay, crystal light this morning (gave up coffee a month ago) and off to have blood drawn. And the fun continues.

Well, it sounds like you are ready to let go of the old ways. That's one of the hardest parts of this journey.

I wouldn't write off that steak, though. Pretty soon, that will be your entire dinner, lunch and dinner the next day.

Good luck newbie. I might be harnessing my inner Frisco, but I have a feeling you are going to do well - epic fail and all.

For my food funeral I went to Europe with some girlfriends for two weeks.  I had a really hard time getting "into" eating as I had been doing so well on my clean, healthy eating before the food funeral.  It took a few days to get into it (the perogies helped lol) but by the end of the trip, I was mourning/devouring all kinds of goodies (they have such good pastries)  Anyway, I started my two week liquid diet 2 days after coming back and the food withdrawal coupled with the "liquid only" thing made it about 100 times worse than if I would have just behaved, stuck to my plan and controlled myself.  Fortunately all the sightseeing  included endless walking so I only gained 4 lbs in the two weeks.

Be proud that you had that control, it's not like you will never eat those favorites again, you will, in moderation and probably sooner than you think.  Consider your failure at cheating a solid NSV!

My food funeral was grilled salmon and I forget what else, but mainly salad just because it was so delicious and I enjoyed it so much.

Then I got my doctor's pre-surgery diet whi*****luded one meal a day of 5 ounces of lean protein and two servings of low-carb veggies.  So my funeral was merely eating what I got to keep eating all the way up to surgery. Duh! I shoulda gone for Tex Mex. LOL

I think your choices are terrific and show what kind of success you're going to have with you VSG. You rock!

I can totally relate. I missed salad so much in the first few months when I could not eat raw veggies...
