Oh yea, I am here. Work schedule has been brutal as of late so just not as much. So for the OP...
If you have been around the block here on this site you would know that I do not subscribe to the 800 or less calorie diet. With that knowledge, know that in the first month or two even I would not have gone much over that. With a new sleeve healing it is not cool to test limits. My program did indicate 1200 calories for me- but not early out. It was a gradual progression and I hit that (I would have to go back and check to confirm now... ) around month 5. I did not do the low carb approach found on this site so frequently. I followed:
600-800 calories month 1 and 2, carbs under 40. Had low blood sugar and terrible constipation issues so ditched the low carb thing and decided to follow the plan served up at my bariatric center. Best decision ever.
800-1000 for the next maybe 2 months and 1200 by month 5. Carbs alternated 15 net carbs with 30 net carbs to avoid insulin spikes and cravings- worked great. On days I ate more carbs at one sitting I would notice increased hunger and some cravings.
I lost all of the weight to goal with no difficulty and maintenance thus far has been a breeze. I have not been in maintenance for very long though- since last August.
During weight loss I routinely weighed and tracked. I also exercised typically 1 hour on the elliptical or a 4-5 mile walk, 6 days a week. On weekends sometimes I would do both. (I enjoy exercise.)
It is a journey- find your own path. If you don't like your Nut perhaps locate a different one.
*edited out several typos- sheesh, pretty tired tonight!

You DO know all VSG dietary orders we receive from our surgeons are based on RNY right? Ask them when they "adopted" their dietary guidelines, what's it based on, why can't I drink/have liquids with my meals I eat soup! Stews , cold cereal. RNY! YES even our Forums Sponsor's Diet based on RNY!!... Only his has quite a few really unheard of ORDERs n Im not talkin amount of calories ya get in everyday either! lmao HIS pts bless their hearts... try as they might can't follow their ORDERS....either!! so don't feel bad, and don't be shocked cuz you can't follow yours........... I just answered someone else who asked... what makes up our FORUMS SPONSORS Diet ...These are the guidelines of THIS forum....Here ya go...
Calories: no more than 800 cals every day your first year ....or.... until you reach GOAL
DAILY Macronutrients: protein ..90 grams
carbs ...first year....less than 40 gs TOTAL (never NET)
1year+ out ...never more than 60gs for LIFE
fats..... never more than 30 grams for LIFE!
DAILY Measured food amounts:
NEVER ..eat more than 4oz of food , no matter the type........ at any meal.... FOR LIFE.
A couple noteworthy Ten Commandments:
Thou shall not eat more than 3 meals per day and shall not have unhealthy snacks between meals.
Thou shall exercise 5 times per week for 40-45 minutes.
Thou shall ONLY weigh yourself once per week
Thou shall not covet the carbohydrate.
and thou shall take your vitamins EVERYDAY!!
SEE ...didn't I tell ya .....NO ONE CAN FOLLOW THEIR POST OP DIETARY ORDERS....NO ONE!!
I have I dunno 10 different VSG diets.. at the bottom of my Stalls and Plateaus blog. Might take a look at a few....your nut ain't tellin you anything WHACKO, out of character for post op diets orders....So it isn't our Forums Sponsor's "Diet"
...issues like this have been brought up for the past 5 years on a near daily basis...ya know what....I FREAKED OUT TOO lmao!! yeah yeah I me 1200 calories diet back in the dinosaur days....and ya know what...posted about it here too uh huh!!
...I COULDN'T DO IT EITHER!!!! lmao!! NO ONE CAN!! Of course I never told my surgeon or nut ......just all you lucky people!! lmao.... At first physically impossible to eat that much food...then its...ghrelin..I dunno I was too busy to eat or sumthin...then Im like ...CHALE!! no way do I want to eat that much ...even if I could!!.......4.5 years out..I STILL can't follow my post op dietary orders! lmao!! I average 1100 cals a day...somedays way up there....some days not...it all evens out for me anymore.
Guidelines darlin...not etched in stone!!
NO ONE CAN FOLLOW THEIR DOCS POST DIETARY ORDERS ok ...we are all individuals...not a one size fits all "diet" manual.. ...that's what we're here for to help troubleshoot MISINFORMATION majority of us have been given...you aren't alone..
KNOW YOU MADE AN EXCELLENT CHOICE of your TEAM! , an EXCELLENT DECISION!!........Your Nut is not a nutt...and your surgeon is not an incompetent idiot that doesn't do sleeve's correctly either.
Do the best YOU can with the guidelines YOU'VE been given!! Post 1 year...yer gonna wish like most of us here....YOU CAN EAT SO VERY LITTLE AGAIN!!
You rock that frikken sleeve butterfly ...your gonna be alright!
.Keep coming back!! It works if you work it.....oh **** I keep forgettin.... thats AA isn't it... or is it:?
