Not quite the attitude of my doctor...he is an expert and I am paying him for his expertise...but we will find a work around I am sure.

Ugh I know how it goes. I've asked to have all of my levels checked, and my PCM didn't want to do them because I "look normal". Ok buddy. I think you going to him for colds and going to your surgeon for labwork is probably the best route.

would your GP and Dr G be willing to speak to one another for a brief consultation re Dr G's rationale for ordering these tests?

Yes, Dr Gagner offered to do just that and if things with the endo don't work out then I will have him write to her and to the GP and will see which one is convinced...

if your surgeon tells you to do it, he should be the one ordering the tests.  asking doctors to second guess each other is only going to cause issues.

She lives in Switzerland and her surgeon is in Canada.

Yeah the surgeon is ordering the tests but he is in Montreal and I am in Geneva so its a bit of a different situation.

I'm sorry that's happening!  Glad you found a way around him!  We have to be our own advocate!!

They don't really understand what a bariatric patient needs and that's not really their fault,  it's not their specialty,  but it sucks that he wouldn't do the tests.    My doctor did all the tests that I asked,  but she did tell me why she felt certain ones would be useless.  My surgeon didn't give me a list of tests that I needed so I just looked online and probably ended up with a way too huge list of things to check,  so it ended up being like 9 vials of blood,  ick.

Out of curiosity would you mind PMing me the list of things that Dr Gagner checks post op in blood tests?   If I could whittle down my list and get down to less vials of blood that would be great :)   I'm in Quebec so any blood tests that he requires won't be any issues for me.
