I am not going to have the accrued time to take a full week of vacation post op.  I do work from home and it is a desk job, how much time off did everyone else take?

Thanks

Shelle

I went back at 2 weeks, but I have a very active job on my feet. A lot depends on your doc's requirements after surgery. I was on a WATER ONLY diet for 7 days post-op (and 3 days pre-op). I was feeling very weak. I started doing better once I was allowed to have protein shakes after a week of only water. That being said, most people seem to be allowed protein drinks and that makes a huge difference. I think if your doc allows protein drinks, and you can sit at home to work, you will probably do great going back at a week. Just set a timer to remind yourself to drink! It's easy to get distracted by work and forge****er.

I have a desk job. Took 1 full week off & went back half days the next week. That worked out fine for me. Good luck!

I am the same as you - desk job, work from home, I only took 4 days off!  My job can be pretty easy, so I am lucky.

I have a desk job and I went back after a week and a half. My first day back was a half day but was back to normal after that. I did have trouble sittin up in the chair for 12 hrs during my shift. Alot depends on how you feel and work only as much as you can.

I went back after 10 days, but we were entertaining over the holidays after only 4 days.  I felt pretty good except for some light headedness and I tired easily.

Good luck!

I'm watching the replies here because I only have 5 days of vacation, then I have to be back at work. My first day off is travel, then surgery the 2nd day, then I fly home on my 3rd day off. So two days at home to recover. I hope I can do it.

I took off four weeks and then had to do two more weeks light duty, but I am an RN and do a lot of lifting and pulling and pushing.

Take the time off that you can- remember if you need more time that your state or employer should offer short term disability to cover you as well. I've taken this week off after surgery and will go back the following week if I feel ok. If not, I will file with the state. I work at home as well. I've proactively blocked my calendar for the week I'm back to be light on meetings.

Good luck, remember you will be fatigued so take it easy.
