What is going on?
This entire week I've alternated between total exhaustion and hunger. If I'm not one, I'm the other. My capacity has not increased bc I'm satisfied with the same amount, but I'm hungry every three hours. It's real hunger, not dehydration or acid. I take a ppi and I drink a gallon of water. I feel like a hobbit. It's not ravenous, crazy hunger, just a feeling of total emptiness & light headedness. I'm trying to pay attention to my body and feed it more if I get like that because I've also started having pretty vicious cravings for high carby things (which I don't eat). I feel pregnant, but I have an IUD so that better not be the case.
Ugh, I hope this is just a phase. It's taken every ounce of will power I have this week to stay focused. I'm close to goal, my weight loss has slowed, and I simply don't have the luxury to screw around right now. Sorry for the rant. I don't want people to think I'm all rainbows & butterflies & unicorns. :)
Take a look at your food choices for meals - is there something you can replace with dense proteins that may stay with you longer? That would be my first thought.
Another thing I do is plan a mid morning and mid afternoon snack. During weight loss this would be a light mozarella cheese stick or a 100 calorie pack of almonds. In maintenance this is where I often fit in my quest bars. I usually plan these about two hours between meals. So if I eat breakfast at 7 AM I will have myy mid morning snack between 9 and 9-30. Lunch around 12. Then mid afternoon snack around 2:30. Dinner anywhere from around 5 to 7.

Most of my meals are centered around dense proteins. I eat mini frittatas for breakfast (not dense, but I can't stomach non breakfast food for breakfast), usually chicken for lunch (maybe some veggies if I have room), and chicken or turkey for dinner (usually lettuce wraps or stir fry). My diet isn't very varied right now. Maybe I should just suck up the extra snacks. One is always a protein shake. My calories are fine. It's the exhaustion that's getting to me. I want to be able to play with my toddler when she gets home, i want to focus on my work, I want to be able to work out without feeling like everything I do requires this insane amount of energy I don't have. The blackening of my vision when I get up is no fun either. I should be able to put my kid in her crib without feeling like I'm going to fall over. Good grief, I'm a complainy pants today
Thank you for responding :)
For your frittatas what are you putting in them. You could add some protein to them in the form or either turkey or chicken sausage. There are some really good lean turkey bacon options as well (you have to be careful with Turkey bacon, a lot of it has added fat for flavor and virtually no protein). I make a pretty awesome chicken breast sausage with sage, parsley, etc. IF you are doing a garden style fritatta that may help you change it up some and add some additional protein.
As far as energy levels - whens the last time you had your labs checked? You could be developing either a B-12 or Iron deficiency. Have your PCP draw labs and check.
As far as B-12 goes, do you do sublingual, nasal, or injections? A lot of people in my support group like the nasal spray. The injections tend to wear off by the end of the injection cycle and people feel drained. I have't had a problem with the sublingual so thats what I do.

These current frittata are egg white, ham, gruyere & sauteed red pepper. I take B12 sublingual, and it does seem to give me a moderate boost. Is the nasal spray an rx?
My surgeon only does labs in the first year if there's an issue, and up to this point I've felt great. Maybe I'm anemic. That wouldn't surprise me bc my last cycle I was a mess and ate lean red meat every day to help. I do not take iron - my surgeon said he doesn't think it's necessary for me right now but we'd re-evaluate at a year when I get labs done. If this isn't just an off week, I'm going to request lab work.
Thanks again for not brushing me off :) I really appreciate it
The nasal spray is an RX, usually once per week.
Thats odd about labs. Most of the places I saw did labs at 12 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. Your surgeon doesn't have to be the one to order them.. But if you feel drained and lethargic on top of the hunger, definitely talk to a doctor.
Early on in my weight loss I had small periods of weakness and mental confusion that would hit me if I didn't eat regularly. They would clear up immediately on eating. My Blood sugar was crashing (which was emotionally hard for me to believe as a long time diabetic). You could really be having some of that too.
Being a guy, I cant talk to the TOM issues of course. Best advice, is listen to your body. You know what Normal is for you. IF you are not feeling that way consistently, get some blood work run.
Your fritatta makes me HUNGRY, LOL.

Ham and gruyere is so tasty! I will definitely talk to my doctor. I should probably see my GP in the near future regardless, so I can talk to her as well about getting me some labs. I was a little surprised not to have labs, but I was feeling great, taking my vitamins, so I didn't second guess it. Thanks!
