Weekend away - is it worth a splurge?

My hubs and I are staying at a lake resort this weekend.  It's his gift for Father's Day.  I'm planning massages for the day we get there, jet ski fun on Saturday, a nice dinner Saturday night and sleeping in on Sunday before we go to pick up our baby girl from my mom's.  My mother is the best :)

So, I'm wondering if it's worth having a little splurge.  There's a bakery I've been dying to try for years that is 5 miles away from the resort.  You have to get there early, and it's quite far from our house so I've never been.  I would love to have a part of an almond croissant or a couple bites of chocolate crepe (it's a French bakery, obviously).  Is it worth it?  I'm still in weight loss mode.  I'm currently in a stall (happens after every single period), so that probably answers my question.  I would obviously have to seek this place out, so it wouldn't be difficult to avoid entirely.  However, this is probably the one chance to actually try it bc I won't ever drive out there early.

I really am looking for feedback.  It's fine to say - are you crazy?  Of course you shouldn't eat the damn crepe, silly woman.  :)

I'm probably going to get yelled at for saying this, but I say go for it!  Make sure you log all your food, and plan for that indulgence! As long as you don't think it'll kick off the carb monster, enjoy your weekend!

Hahaha, it probably would set off the carb monster, or at the very least, set off the old pattern of making an entire day or weekend of horrid food choices.  Not bc I need them, but bc in my irrational head I've already thrown in the towel.  There's probably some therapy in my future

I always ask myself, "Is it worth it?" I am in maintenance, so I have more flexibility. If you think it is worth the splurge, plan for it, in your daily caloric allowance.

Thanks!  I don't think it would actually affect my weight loss positively or negatively.  I think it might, however, effect my head which I don't need.  I'm already neurotic enough.

It isn't worth the head trip or calories. You have your answer. I was very strict during the weight loss mode. Ironically, things don't taste as good as they used to. So it isn't worth it. Have fun!

I really think you already know my answer.  :)  I can tell you that I wouldn't go, but you have to decide, how badly do you want the weight loss?  Is the crepe going to make your vacation, or is it going to make you wonder about your priorities?  You have a life time for little indulgences after reaching goal, those sweets will still be there next time you are in town.  You decide what is most important to you, live with the decision and evaluate it after the fact to see if you still believe you did the right thing.  You get to live your life your way.  You are in charge of this, what do you want to do?

I want the damn croissant, Elina!  Why must you be so rational?!  No, you're right.  If I have to ask the question, it's obviously not worth it.  I just got super excited when looking for coffee shops in the area that this place was not too far.  I will end up wracked with guilt and feeling like a failure most likely.  Besides this weekend isn't about food, it's about relaxing and enjoying my husband.  I could give him a candy bar, and he'll be fine.  The delicious luxury of a good French pastry is totally lost on him ;)

I think the fact that you are even bothering to post about this before doing it shows that you already know the answer.  You want me to tell you to step away from the French pastry, so there it is, me saying it loud and clear, "Stay away, this is not for your for now, but it will be here later".  Take a deep breath, enjoy your husband, find other ways to indulge with him.  :)   I can think of a few things that don't require too many calories..... can you?  :)

I can think of a few that actually burn calories, and I finally figured out how garters work ;)  (I'm like a 12 year old with this stuff)
