Weekend away - is it worth a splurge?

Your weekend activities sound like a B.L.A.S.T.... w/o the bakery venture. You know it won't be as good as you imagine anyway. You taste bud's for sweets have changed. It won't be worth the trip / guilt / head games / etc... especially when you have all those incredible things planned... Nothing taste as good as a massage feels or the wind blowing in your hair while you wild ride on a jet ski...and absolutely nothing compares to sleep in and snuggles. Focus on the awesome goodness of your weekend plans and forget the bakery. ( just my opinion of course).

I usually find something I can have to take care of the taste buds. I love Van Houtte Belgian Chocolate Coffee (k-cup).

Good luck and have fun!

Coffee is my treat :)  I especially love cold brew.  There's something about it that I find comforting for minimal calories.  Well, that and shopping.  Hahaha

My approach to sugar may not work for everyone, but here goes....

"I am sure heroin or crack would be awesome too, but I am not going to splurge on those either"

That is awesome.  I'm adding it to my list of things I say to myself when something like fudgy brownies starts chanting my name :)

Deena,

I have a feeling you have more self control than I do, from reading your recent posts from resisting brownies & cupcakes.  I, on the other hand ... have an extremely hard time saying no & look where it got me.  I am still struggling with a regain but I do feel like I still have my head in the game.

I'd say plan for it... and I mean either plan to eat or or plan to not eat it.  Maybe don't order your own, just take a bite or two from your hubby.  I appreciate those VSGers who are hardcore but everyone is different.  I don't think 1 or 2 bites will fuller trigger the carb monster but eating an entire almond croissant will.  For me, indulging earlier out got me into trouble but if you want to feel like a normal person who can take 1 bite & literally savor that very moment then do what you feel you gotta do.  I know some peeps say you don't need to enjoy the sweets on a vacation ... that your vacation doesn't need to revolve around food but 1 bite won't make you gain anything.  Just proceed with caution if you do.  You might be able to take that bite & then tell yourself that was it, that's all you need and still see your gorgeous reflection in the mirror, be happy & continue with reaching your ultimate goal.

Just think about it and plan ahead regardless of your choice.  Love ya, you sexy thing you!!!

I love you too!  You totally have your head in the game!  You need to be kinder to yourself bc you are ******g amazing and sexy and wondrous.  You're allowed to feel that way.  Being humble is for sissies.  Don't be a sissy.  Own your awesomeness :)

This was really great BTW bc I am NOT normal.  I so wish I was, but I've made a kind of peace with not being normal.  I can have one or two bites of carby things, and I did while I was in NYC but sugar is not something I can do that with.  I know I will end up eating whatever it is until I start feeling sick, and even then top it off with an extra bite.  It's better to not even go there.  Thank you for the reminder.

BTW, I made these beautiful Butterfinger cheesecakes with ganache & peanut butter icing for Father's Day (it's what my husband requested - really Butterfinger cheesecakes...he's 12).  Not one bite bc I knew just one bite would open up the floodgates.  I don't know why I thought this would be any different.  Haha.

Honestly, as someone who is trying to rein the carb monster back in (quite successfully tho), I'd say avoid.

If you'd be fine with a bite, then have A BITE of your husband's, but a whole crepe? Nah. If you can't stop at a bite, then just order a lovely coffee and sip while he enjoys. I did the same this weekend at this amazing dessert place and honestly, it's fine.

Do you want to get to goal? Do you want to stay there? Is it worth it to avoid that pastry?

Those are the questions you should ask and in the end, only you can answer.

Have a GREAT time!

Yes, ma'am, I want to get to my new goal!  I'm DETERMINED to get there, even though I'm fighting a daily battle with my head that there's no way I can possibly get that small.  Although, I am totally enjoying being the thinnest I've ever been in my adult life (even if it's only by three pounds, I'm taking it!).  :)  Hubby doesn't like crepes anyway, so it's best we don't go.  Thank you!

:)

And you'll have a lovely weekend just the same. Find a great place that does amazing seafood or grilled meats or salads. I'm sure that exists too and you'll love it.

We can still splurge on vaca, but it doesn't need to be with carbs. and heck, this weekend I had some awesome lamb and KANGAROO. It was sooooooo good. (and I wasn't even on vaca...).
