Can someone explain the 2oz serving size to me?  The surgeon's office didn't mention this, and I keep seeing it everywhere...is it 2oz of protein during the weight loss phase, and then as much veggies as you can eat, or what?  Does it continue through the maintenance phase?

Hi!  Most surgeons (or the NUTS that work in that office) will give you a diet plan/guidelines once you have your surgery.  For example, you may be on full/clear liquids for X amount of days/weeks, then introduce "mushies" or soft foods for X amount of days/weeks.  Usually when you begin eating solids, they will have you start with 2 oz portions.  I would check with your surgeon's office to see if they have a plan for you.  Many plans are different, based on your surgeon's preference.

Ah thank you!  Maybe they aren't planning on mentioning this to me until after the surgery.

Maybe...most do have a plan, though, so don't forget to ask!  Good luck with your surgery!

I sure hope you find out before surgery.  Be sure to ask if you'll have a post-op Nutrition class BEFORE surgery.

Good luck!

For me, all my sleeve will tolerate is 2 to 3 ounces.  So its not by choice!  I'm about 7 weeks out, and my tummy is taking its time to heal.  I was so tired on just having proteins that I cut back a little on the meat and added the vegies.  I only have about a tablespoon of veggies with the 2 to 2.5 oz of meat.  But it depends on what your tummy will tolerate.  People progress at such different rates.  I'm still having trouble getting enough water in every day.

Good luck with your journey.

Carol
