What are you doing for the 4th?

Whew it seems a little crazy around here lately. I thought I would post a topic about what people are doing for the 4th of July this year? How does it differ from what you may have done before you had WLS?

And for our non-American members, doing anything fun this week? :)

Tomorrow morning I'm flying down to D.C. with a friend (sans husband haha) for a few days (also why I'm posting this now since I won't be around). She has pretty much every minute planned out with various tours, activities, etc. Oh, and one super nice dinner so we have an excuse to wear something fancy ;)

I would never, ever, ever have done something like this when I was over 300lbs. My friend is extremely thin and it used to make me uncomfortable to go places with people I was literally 3 times the size of. I would never have been able to keep up with all the walking we plan to do. I used to plan my vacations pretty much around when and where we were going to eat, this one is all about where are we going and what are we seeing :)

This is also going to be my first trip on a plane since WLS and I keep going back and forth about whether to bring my seatbelt extender haha. The people that I've asked have looked at my like I have 3 heads, but idk, I guess it's just about a sense of security? Maybe I'll need to give up some control and leave it at home. We'll see.

Hope you all are doing something good for yourselves this week regardless!

Hey my gorgeous Friend!!
You do not need the seatbelt extender girl, got it??? Joo crazy!!!! xoxo
My kids will be with their dad (Hello Javier in case you are still being nosey, lol!). This will be my first holiday without them but I guess I need to get used to it once in a while...
My sister is inviting us over. She doesn't cook much & there was a mention of either pollo loco or Shakey's pizza (sorry I'm giggling... A for effort, right Steph?!?) but looks like my sweet is making the main course. We also get to stay for fireworks. Seems like a pretty fun day. It doesn't take much for me to be all kinds of happy as long as I have my family around.

I'll be laying horizontally in the pool, mixed with a few aqua cardio moments.  It'll just be me and ParisBoy.  My family is cray-cray.  They NEVER come to our place to swim.    They saw it's too hot in the 'city'.  I guess it's a city because we have a movie theatre.

Have fun in DC.   I haven't been in a decade.  Hubs ended up getting searched by Secret Service at the White House.  Pulled off into a little locked room.   We can laugh about it now, but boy that was an experience!!

Omg, lol! It sounds like quite an experience!!

Too hot in the 'city'? But it's never too hot to be poolside!! *sigh* I really wish we had a pool.

I will be in DC at Penn Tavern ( which is like 3 blocks from the national mall area) then about 30 mins before the fireworks are scheduled to start we are walking over to the mall to watch the fireworks. Then we are going back over to Penn Tavern to hang out until the metro clears out. We did it last year and had a blast!

Hope you have a great time here in DC

Sounds fun! I've never been in SC for the 4th :)

I plan to have a blast! I think we'll be watching the fireworks around there too, I'll have to check my friend's itinerary lol ;)

We are just doing something simple, grilling a few steaks, some oven potato wedges, a huge green salad, and maybe some peach cobbler for desert. Now before someone goes off on me, I am making the peach cobbler with fresh peaches, splenda, cinnamon, topping will be sf yellow cake mix and topping it off with sf cool whip. Although I can only eat maybe a bite I have a 26 son and daughter in law who will gladly fini**** for me, lol. It is going to be so hot that we have decided to grill indoors to escape some of the heat and then later it's on to the fireworks show.

That sounds like a great time :)

Aaand now I want peach cobbler, that sounds really really good... even though I'm totally allergic to peaches haha!

My friend is allergic to peaches also. For her bd I substituted sf canned pie filling in apple and I have to say it was pretty good.
