Epic Personal NSV

My team requested donuts this morning. I stopped at Dunkin donuts on the way to the office. I had a dozen donuts sitting on the seat next to me, and I didn't even care. In the old days, I would've been acutely aware of every smell, almost like a dog. This morning, I couldn't smell them, and they didn't bother me one bit. In fact, I was much more interested in my sugar-free iced coffee. I always knew that the true test of my recovery would be whether or not I would ever be able to stand in front of a donut case and have no reaction. I think I passed the test this morning.

Lauri, Good for you. I know you are pleased with yourself. Isn't life wonderful? I have a couple of grandchildren who like to ask me if I want to smell their donuts, cookies, cake and anything else they know I cannot eat. I always tell them yes and then say, mmm.. That smells good, but I never taste it. I just had a revelation. Maybe I am teaching them about self control and personal decision making. We lead by example. Now I am tickled with you and me. It is wonderful what we learn about ourselves when we respond to people's posts.

That is great!  It seems like this surgery changes life for the better in many, many ways!!  I am only in the beginning stages (seminar last night) but I am looking forward to what lies ahead!

That's great! Isn't amazing how your view on food changes after VSG.  My test was pizza. .. I could never resist pizza before.  I could even finish one on my own.  But now it doesn't even phase me.

That's a huge victory! WTG! Food smells still bother me at times.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!! That would be a victory for me too! 

I don't think I could have been alone in a car with a box of donuts and not had at least half of one.  Way to go!
