Thank goodness for husbands...
I was jus "served" the most amazing lunch. Alan was busy cooking while I went to the gym. I came home to the wonderful smell of garlic and onions and meat cooking together. He made faux mash potatoes with lite sour cream and lite parmesan cheese. He topped it with this beef, onion, garlic, olives, spinach, basil, marinara sauce and wine thing he makes. It was out of this world and very lean but it tastes like comfort food. Alan brought that over to me with a flower from our garden and a big kiss.
Have I mentioned that I love this man, and somewhere, somehow, I must have done something very good to deserve it.. He also put together a new songlist for me to exercise to, compiled with songs from our favorite local bands that would trigger special memories for us.
You are right, I do everything I can think of to make his life better. I don't usually mention all the things I do for him, because that is something for him to talk about/or not, but my husband sure knows that he is loved, respected, wanted, adored and needed. Even my daughter, who is 12 now, always looks for something special to bring home for her Daddy when we go shopping.
Last weekend we were at our friends' house and our friend told us about his best buddy that he has known since high school and has crossed the country with many times on their motorcycles. He told us how he can't imagine having more trust or feeling closer to anyone. I asked Alan if there was a friend he felt that close to, and he looked at me and said, " Well you should know, it's you, you are my best friend". I love that man, I love that man, I love that man.
I love hearing that there are other couples that are crazy about each other. I so want my children to grow up and find the same kind of love. It worries me when I think about all of the friends I have who didn't find this because I want it to be there for my children.
He was a good sport carting us around when your group was here. I will certainly say "hi" to him. He wanted to know if I knew anyone who would be at the convention and when I mentioned your name he visibly relaxed. I think it makes him feel better to know that I will not be alone. I will look for something to do, but you look too. I love all kinds of live music, or dance music. If you know any good venues close to the hotel, check them out. I will arrive on Thursday around 3:00 and am there until Sunday afternoon.
