Wow!!!! I can't wait to meet him in person and give him a big hug.  That man has great taste! I love it, he always seemed like a great guy.  I am so glad  you two found each other.

Nice to hear such things exist.  It's easy to take advantage of each other, or lose respect for each other when you have extended family issues, money issues, or just the stress of raising kids.  Sad but true.  Nice to hear that didn't happen.

We were lucky from the get go.  He comes from a family where his parents have adored each other for 60 years.  His father still surprises his mother with little poems on her pillow and makes her a cappuccino every morning. His mother still bats her eyes at his dad, even at 85.  They still take excellent care of each other and are each other's best friend.  I only want what they have and Alan learned it from the cradle.  I had to learn it by watching them and learning from their behaviors. I decided early out in our marriage to follow him and his parents and actively repeat what they do.  Now, fifteen years later, it is second nature, but it was not always like that.  I had a great deal to learn early on.

This is exactly what I was going to say in response to your wishes for the same kind of love and caring for your children that you expressed in an earlier reply. I was going to say that all you have to do is model it and the kids will follow you. I was also going to say that you need to thank your parents in law every day because that's where Alan learned it all. I thank my MIL every time I can because it is thanks to her that I have what I have. But I didn't write this because I didn't know if your parents in law were still with you but now that you have written that they are - well --- my dear --- thank them every day!!!! And keep modeling for your kids what they modeled for Alan and for you. Your kids are lucky because their chances of success are that much greater!

Okay Elina, you seriously have to clone this man!  Either that or have him start teaching "classes" that we can all enroll our husbands in!

That is sweet and your "Alan stories" always make me smile! Thanks for sharing! :)

What a sweetheart! You are one lucky woman, but then again, he's pretty lucky too!  Thank goodness you found each other.  Looking forward to meeting you later in the week.  Travel safe.
