In a Weird Place Right Now

I am going to add one more comment here.  I know that this might sound counter productive, but it comes from an excellent source, you might seriously consider skipping the morning workout and sleeping more.  I am not kidding, check the research on this.  I also heard this advice given by the keynote speaker at the OH conference.  Think about it.

Excellent advice!

Keith your post is very thought provoking for me and clearly heartfelt. I appreciate your forthrightness and honesty. It can be really hard to speak with such candor when so many people look up to you.

Another thought - over and above your need for more/better sleep, I wonder if you are getting 'tired' of being in the weight loss phase? I know I would be. If you think that might be contributing to your 'malaise', it might make sense to let go of some of the hard core exercise goals and focus more on setting stricter food intake/content goals. I'm one of those people who rarely advises people to 'shake it up' but in your cir****tance, getting to your goal weight could be just what you need to renew yourself.

LOVE your post! I am going to be 2 years out next month and I just posted before and after pics yesterday and put the same mindset in my post. This is forever! In the first year, we lose the weight, but then when reality sets in and we start picking at the carbs/.sugar stuff that got us fat to begin with, because for whatever reason each person tells them self IE: I deserve this, I worked out today, I do not eat this every day etc....it becomes a habit again! and the next thing u know u have gained weight and this time, it does not just come right off! At times, I think maintaining is just as hard on the mind set as it was to lose the weight to begin with! But, ultimately, if we eat right, we can make this change we made stick! We have to just have the right mindset behind it :)

Thank you for this Keith. This is exactly what I needed to see today. I'm almost a year out and I'm feeling like a little donut can't hurt me. I've been able to resist that urge and I'm fighting the battle just like you, one day at a time, hell, one hour at a time. As danixbanani said, "**** is getting real".

Cravings are just a part of the process. I have had many of them and I do get them a fair amount of the time. What happened yesterday was different than craving a donut or something sweet, almost more primal. I can ignore a craving and I guess I ignored yesterdays but it was much stronger than a regular craving and desire to eat. I got some good sleep last night and seem to be back to normal.

Your case sounds more like head hunger and unresolved comfort triggers or hey like mind I just freaking like to eat. Those are the things we need to overcome.
