Feeling deprived

Thank you so much for your kind words.  It means a lot to me.  I hope you are right about not gaining the weight back, but if I succeed it'll only be thru diligence.  I'm still 225 pounds, but I feel Normal-sized for the first time in my adult life.  It is marvelous to walk into a room and not be the largest person in the room anymore.

Its great that your "need to eat the whole bag" has diminished with the WLS process, and that you are coming to understand your relationship with food better.  This certainly is a complicated issue for us.

And thank heavens for people like you, and your kind and generous spirit!  Its so nice to have a forum where people understand the struggles of obesity.

Best wishes,

Carol

I want to first say CONGRATs to you on your great success!  I've been watching your success through my pre-op and now post-op.  I'm struggling as with my liquid diet phase and get bored easy!  Keith's idea of finding a healthy good tasting treat to beat some of our "weaker" moments sounds like a great idea.  I'm not sure how I'm going to get over my pizza cravings as that is probably my toughest battle...

Wishing you the best in your journey and this little "hurdle" you are trying to get over.

How am I coping with the holidays?  Shoot ... the best way I can I guess.  It's definitely a tough time for me and for the past few days I have been thinking about my past "bad" behavior all year that I am being extremely hard on myself for the choices I've made.

Today is a new day and I am trying my best to make great choices.  I've been trying to look forward and plan ahead but I seem to be more calm just taking care of today.  I think for any party I am throwing or am invited to, I am going to bring something yummy for myself and to share.  I hope it keeps me sane!!!

You are doing great Carol!!  I hate being deprived too...cause it makes me depraved !! LOL

my 'strategies' are maybe very basic...make sure you have your food needs taken care of in advance, or bring along with you.  as for the goodies, i avoid eye contact...cause if i don't , the drooling starts..literally .... so, I try to stay out of the room the problem food is in.  It's a lot easier now than it was before surgery to avoid, but it's still hard to resist temptation!

good luck to you, and all of us!

Carol could you possibly take a bite of something that is driving you crazy?  I've done this and afterward, it's like.. that wasn't worth all my fuss, or I've even taken a bite and spit it out in a napkin.  I bought some Atkins bars and they really have helped, they taste sweet to me, so anytime I'm going crazy with temptation I'll do half or a few bites of one of those.  Sounds like you really don't need any advice because you are strong and tough and you've got this under control.
