I Just Got ***** Slapped By My Sleeve
The vets have a lot of good advice amidst what can look like smack-downs. I try not to take things personally. I know myself and know that when I get to multiple years out, if I am still around this forum, it will be difficult not to get frustrated with people that I see as doing things "incorrectly." Imagine how many people they have seen come and go here that ask things like "How soon can I eat Cheetos?" (I've seen that one!) or something like "I can't believe that I've gained weight after eating cake! My portions were so SMALL all seven pieces that I had!" I'm only 6 months post op and I've already done my own fair share of jaded eye rolling. Embarrassing but true.
I don't usually post pitfalls either, for the same reasons that you mentioned. But last night when I was so sick and annoyed with myself and thinking how NOT worth it my evening was, I figured it was a good time to show that we all fall short, BUT there's always something to be gleaned from failure. I wasn't about to feel guilty. What was done was done. A lifetime of guilt and feelings of inadequacy is what got me to 298 pounds. I'm done feeling guilty. Feel free to message me any time if you need an accountability partner. No snack-downs here :)

It really is a good reminder! Sad that we won't have it forever though :(

Aw... no shaming from me. I'll give you some hugs though
Sorry you felt sick... but good for you for learning a lesson from it. Don't get down on yourself! Now you are getting a better idea of what you can eat. Maybe next time you can just have some popcorn? Anyway, thanks for being so honest, it will help a ot of people here. I hope you feel better!
Thanks for the hugs, mollz. You're right. Lesson learned... the HARD way!

Don't ever get me wrong...... I want you to do well and get what you want out of this......
Not telling you what to do...... and it's OK for you to not like what I have to say or like me..... I'm way past that......
Reading your post is kind of alarming on several levels......not trying to dis you or "***** slap" anyone........
1) that's a lot of mistakes all in a row
2) after the series of mistakes....... you actually put it in your mouth and swallowed....
I'm a strong voice that says "moderation" is the most dangerous word in weight control.......and the trap you just fell into is a normal moderation action......
What you have to ask yourself is........ if you do this when your still in WL........ what is moderation going to be like when your motivation is much lower..... ya know...... the long haul.... for life ????
Not to shame you..... but I don't think you were looking for the "aww to bad...... try harder next time justification response"....... or were you????
I've read your posts and you know what's up and I have not posted anything you don't know........ again..... just want you to do well !!!

Dr. Paul Cirangle
Thanks Frisco. I guess it just boils down to the fact that I had an off day. A WAY off day. Yesterday it was 80something g. protein, fewer than 30 carbs and tomorrow will be business as usual. Hanging out with my folks is dangerous, if I'm being honest. My mom is obese and taught me all of my horrible habits that got me to where I was pre op. But, seeing that I currently live with my folks, she's kind of hard to avoid ;) Not that I would want to anyway. I mean, she's my MOM.
As for the "long haul" that you mention. This sort of "night out on the town" is a rarity around here. I hope to stay out of the "moderation trap," and the second that the scale stops or (heaven forbid) goes the wrong direction, plans will change. I weigh every day and tweak my protein/water intake any time that the scale slows down... I didn't stall until my 4th month and that only lasted a few days, so I must be doing SOMETHING right?
And you're right. I'm not looking for hand-holding "go get 'em champ" responses. (I wasn't necessarily looking for the "you can't fix stupid" responses either, but the mods can sort that out). I was just hoping to show that we're all human and we all fall short of perfect sometimes, especially given how many newbies have been posting here in the last few weeks...
