Distance Traveled

An earlier post made me wonder - how far (in miles or driving time) did you have to travel for your WLS?  And, if you had to travel far, where would you have gone in case of an emergency - to a closer ER?

I've been thinking about this because my surgery will be at a hospital about 60-90 minutes away, depending on traffic.  A lot of complication symptoms for VSG are similar to the symptoms for other abdominal problems, like kidney stones, which I have a history of getting.  If I started experiencing these symptoms, which might not be VSG related, should I just go to my local ER?  My local hospital does have a bariatric center, so in theory they wouldn't be clueless about WLS complications.  But it seems like it would be safer, in case of emergency, to go to my local ER, even if just to get checked out and stabilized before being transported to my surgeon's hospital.
