Looks like Facebook took care of the job of telling the entire world about my bariatric surgery.
First of all, this was not a hobby but a medical condition requiring treatment. While obesity isn't covered by ADA currently (I don't think), it should be enough to give an employer a few issues if they actually tried to fire you for it.
Secondly, now that it's out, own it. Be the best example for WLS anyone who meets you knows about. Be the story they tell when telling others about how successful someone they know was with it. You're passing by hundreds of people every day who need this life line. Hopefully, at least will learn from you and take the same steps to save themselves.
And for those that want to throw dirt at you for it, let them choke on the fat you left behind. Let them suffer in their own minds when the new skinny you is enjoying an active healthy lifestyle. Don't waste any time thinking of them, just leave them in your dust.

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I have to own it now. Well, I'm man (or woman) enough to do that. I guess I was just hoping I could weasel through in baggy sweaters until somebody said something and I could mumble something like 'atelessfood' before vanishing around a corner.
I have this problem, see. I am 100% socially inept in conversation. I am not well spoken. I tend to either avoid confrontations completely or get all up in your face, Samuel L. Jackson about it, which makes me a bit weird and unpredictable. I'm not as good about the in-between part, you know, the polite, firm response that normal people can pull off. Normal people, they take this thing for granted. There's like a whole set of rules that everybody knows and understands in regular conversation. It boggles my mind how well everybody plays by this unspoken rule-set since I have no idea what any of these rules really are.

You could go with the "you didn't know? I'm sure I told everyone important to me. Huh! Go figure!".....and walk away lol.
Block your ex, if he's not supposed to be talking to you then he shouldn't have that access. It opens up to many opportunities for him. Actually block everyone that isn't important to you. I keep my facebook locked down to people I trust and care about. Not one person from work is on my facebook...I don't mix work and home.
*snort*
My facebook is generally blocked to everyone except my family. Except for a couple of recent posts, of course! My co-workers aren't on it. Just hope none of it gets around on "the grapevine".
I think a phone app may have been responsible for the glitch. My Twitter got hacked at about the same time, too! Suddenly it was full of spam! So, I changed the passwords for everything and revoked all app access for now.
Oh yikes. Facebook is hooked on phonics...
I agree with G. Be the best you can be and maybe you'll inspire someone else to save their own life!

I doubt that you could be fired for WLS. Would you say the same thing if you had another type of surgery? Dont give those non existent people in your life any power. They know. They only power that they have is if you give it to them. Avoid falling into on the negative side of this event. If someone sends you a stupid text then just reply that you will get back to them and that you are busy! Ignore it and dont reply! The people who you mentioned are "NON FACTORS" in your life now.
Really!? This is nuts/crazy.
