Liquids. Taste horrible but I know the importance of getting them in.

Liquid protein is really nasty. You are right about that but you will soon forget about that stage. Keep trucking!

Hi had that problem immediately after surgery. Everything tasted like poison. It went away in a few days. Now I can eat almost anything and it tastes as good as it always has. Good luck on your journey.

Two weeks! Then puree for two weeks. Then introduction to full foods.

Yeah, mine is similar. It's tough, but you can get through this! Let's support each other since we're basically on the same stage!

I am in the same boat and am half way through the 2 week full liquids. (I had surgery on 2/7) Same menu too, creamed soups, blended yogurt, protein shakes and also cream of wheat made with milk. It's getting old but am going to follow the plan. I do think some of what I have been eating would be close to puree consistency. Trying so many kinds of soup and straining or blending. Lately it's been split pea soup with ham, thinned with milk and blended. I can only eat 3-4 Tbs at a time. The protein shakes are hard to get in, it takes me a long time. I did try Unjury Chicken broth protein and ordered some, it's chicken soupy and tastes good. I too had the metallic taste and it's common from what I was told and it has improved. I cannot wait to chew on something.

Even though I had an RNY, I had the same issue.  I'm almost three months out and things taste different, in a good way. But no more of things tasting like I had licked a dirty ashtray.

Hang in there!

Another thing to be aware of is that dehydration can cause a nasty taste on its own. I found that lots of herb tea helped. Easy to get down, and once I kept hydrated my "food" tasted better. Even now, at close to 20 months out, a nasty, bitter taste means I need to get drinking.

It may be due to the anesthesia which takes a while to clear.  Keep up the fluids.  Your fat is breaking down which is causing ketosis.  That causes a bad taste and bad breath.....but fat going away is what you want right?
