Nervous, going for plastics consult today

I've been at goal for about 8 months.  I am hoping to get everything done at once.  I've had one consult (it was pretty awful), but I was told because I don't actually have that much excess skin that I should be able to have everything done at one (everything being LBL, BA & BL).  I would infinitely prefer only one recovery time even if it's more painful.  I have a toddler and a super stressful job, so it's better for me to just get it over and done with :)

I'm the same way - I will want everything done at once.

Are your thighs bouncing back ok?  I am not sure I will be patient enough.  I would really like to do it over the holidays - with work that would be easiest.  I was worried a bl / lbl / thigh lift and maybe arm lift will be too much.  I guess once I'm like 50 more lbs down, I will have to go to some consults and see.

good luck!

My thighs suck IMO.  I don't think most surgeons will do thighs & abs because of the closeness of the incisions in the groin area.  I will probably get my thighs done in 2015 or maybe late 2014 bc of the time off issue.  I only get four weeks a year, and it's my five year wedding anniversary this year so I need time for that vacation :)  My inner thighs were actually the only surprise.  I had no idea how bad they would be.  The doc said they weren't that bad, but I think they are terrible.

I'm not going to tell you it's the most fun I've ever had naked, but it's not the worst thing in the world either.  There's not as much pulling, poking, and prodding as you might imagine.  After the first few minutes, I was the one pulling, poking and prodding myself, asking the doc "well, how the heck are you going to fix THIS!"  They're professionals.  They've seen much worse than you're going to show them.  No one is going to scream and run away when you disrobe.  Deep, cleansing breath.

Just fyi, recovery from plastic surgery is hard.  It's emotional.  You'll wonder why you ever did it to yourself.  And you'll be thrilled with not having all the extra skin flapping around.  So, pull on your big girl panties and just do it!

Hahaha, OK, I've got my big girl panties on which will hopefully be smaller panties post plastics & recovery.  ;)  I've read a lot about how emotional it is.  Why do you think that is?  I didn't find recovery from WLS to be emotional at all, and I've heard lots of people talk about all the hormones, etc.  I didn't experience that.  I'm not very emotional in general, so I'm wondering if that might effect anything.  However, I was a ******g mess for about a month after giving birth.  I didn't deal very well with the complete change in my life overnight, and I was floundering around for an identity.  I can imagine having your body changed drastically while you are basically asleep and then the healing could be quite a mind ****

I don't tend to be really emotional either, but the LBL last year put me over the edge.  I think part of it is that the recovery takes longer than we're mentally prepared for.  I was up and moving right away.  But it hurt more than I expected, and the pain/discomfort lasted longer than expected.  At some point, you just want to be better.  Plastic surgery is not for the faint of heart.  They market it with all these cute names - tummy tuck, nip and tuck.  There's nothing cute about it.

But you get over all that.  I hated the process, but I'm thrilled with the results.  And I'm continuing onward with the thigh lift next week, so it must all be worth it, right!?!?

I so appreciate your honesty.  That makes a lot of sense, and I'm glad you didn't think I was being an ass because I am genuinely just curious.  Exciting about the thigh lift!  Good luck!

Brave girl- you can do this!  About your boss---I think the term you want to use is "need to have some reconstructive surgery scheduled"  That's what I used with the TT as well as when requesting time for upcoming arm lift the middle of March.  You certainly do not have to specify exactly what or where the surgery is going to be on your person.  If asked "reconstructive surgery?" (expectation that you are then going to go into detail), just look sweetly surprised that anyone would go there, and say, "I have some skin issues that need to be addressed"--Nothing wrong with being vague.  So excited for you.  Bonnie.

Thank you!  That is absolutely perfect.  I know from the sleeve surgery he won't push.  He's actually an MD and comes from a family of MDs, so he'll offer to put me in touch with someone if I want advice on anything, but that will be it.  Reconstructive surgery is really good.  Your tummy looks fantastic BTW!

My advice is simple: PM Elina. She will give you the cold hard truth about plastics. She did the same for me. I decided I would wait (cost factor only), but I'm glad I talked with her. I know exactly who will do my surgery should I choose to have it done. What you want is not to be taken lightly. It is major surgery and you will be hacked up and sore as all hell.

Best of luck. You absolutely deserve to have this done, if it's what you really want! Hugs.
