Is it normal to not be able to bend over or sit up totally straight 7 days post op?

Most of my spin has gotten much better but I still can't bend over at the waist or it causes excruciating pain. I can't even sit up straight or too far forward or ouch!! The pain is like on my right side about 4 inches below my real orchid incision where they pulled my tummy out.

Don't dream it. Be it.

I had that for at least 2 weeks post-op. My whole right side of my torso was super sore, like I'd done a million sit-ups! And the spot you describe, just to the right of my bellybutton, was super sore for about 3 weeks, maybe more; my surgeon said that he does a complicated figure-eight suture through several layers of muscle in that spot, and lots of people have a lot of soreness there.

He suggested using ice to make it feel better, so I held bags of frozen veggies wrapped in an old t-shirt on my stomach and it definitely helped.

Yes, mine did this, too.  It took almost a month for it to be completely gone...as in being able to stoop over and pick something up off the floor...but much improved after about 2 weeks.

yes it's normal, plus I walked hunched over even when I had lost weight. I worked on strengthen my shoulder mussels to help, and of course abdominal exercises.

WOw! First of all I just read my original post again...and boy can you tell I was drugged up when I typed that or what?! haha.

Second of all, thanks for your responses! I'm glad I'm not experiencing anything too out of the norm. I was just worried because I had felt SO almost normal on Wednesday and Thursday and then whamo today so much pain again.  I am thinking maybe I over did it the two days I felt good.  I have been icing like crazy and getting back on my pain pills so hopefully that will help. In the mean time I'll just try and be patient! :)

Totally normal. I'm only four weeks post op and it's just this past week that I can finally start to bend over without having pain or pulling at any of the incision sites. Give yourself time... and wear slip-on shoes for awhile if you can!
