I can have cream of soups post op - and all I can think of is straining Campbell's cream of mushroom soup which sounds nauseating!

Do you have an awesome cream of soup you'd like to share with me?  In return, I'll share a tasty cream of tomato soup recipe I've been saving for this phase of my life!  (Once I get back to my computer to do so.)

Progresso has a light chicken corn chowder that is very good.  I put it in the blender to make it 100% creamy with not whole pieces.

i enjoyed this cartoon of organic tomato soup. Sometimes i added garlic powder and spices, or a little sour cream. I think the brand name was Pacific.

I went to a few of my favorite restaurants and bought soup, blended it up and strained it. I just wasn't in the mood to cook at that stage

I have this recipe that I've been saving!

Pure Cream of Tomato Soup            The Fannie Farmer Cookbook

            Serves 7

Cream of tomato soup should be gentle and soothing.  This is a perfect example.  Adding baking soda to the tomatoes keeps the milk from curdling.

5 tbsp. butter                                                  1 ½ tsp. sugar

½ cup chopped onion                                     1 ½ tsp. salt

4 tbsp. flour                                                    ½ tsp. baking soda

4 cups milk                                                     3 cups tomatoes, chopped (fresh

½ bay leaf                                                                   or canned)

Melt the butter in a soup pot.  Add the onion and cook over medium heat, stirring, until the onion is softened but not browned.  Sprinkle the flour over the butter mixture and continue to stir and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.  Slowly add the milk, bay leaf, sugar, and salt and continue to cook and stir until slightly thickened.  Stir the baking soda into the tomatoes.  Add the tomatoes to the milk, and bring just to a simmer.  Remove from the heat and put through a strainer (I don’t do this! Too much trouble).  Taste and correct seasonings.  Reheat before serving.

I cooked a can of split pea soup and then put it in the bender.  It came out very creamy and tasted great!
