Socializing without food
Can you all help me brainstorm some great social activities that don't revolve around food? My favorite date with my best friend was always going to Indian for samosas, but that's not really in the cards for the foreseeable future! So I'd love ideas. :)

Maybe the replies here will give us both great ideas :)
I've never been a shopper but, who knows, maybe this will change!

My best friend and I always used to have girls night out and go to the bar...hang out and eat bar food and drink margaritas....Well, no more of that for me. We have been going shopping togeather or we will take the kids to the park. I still have trouble with this though, because she feels like Im being a hermit staying in all the time. She keeps wanting to have another girls night and she just says that I can just drink water... She really doesn't understand that I really can't do that...it would be the worst thing for me right now. I hope you get some other good suggestions :)

So far I'm thinking things like.. bowling? Roller skating? Taking walks on the local rail trail? I live near DC so going into the city is always an option. There are also festivals in the area for various things. Once it's Ren Faire season, that's an option!

I like the way your brain is thinking, Gwen! Yes, look at activities that require you to move and be active and enjoy something together. Taking a pottery class, going to an art gallery or museum. You can alway**** a coffee shop afterward and sip on herbal tea.
The only problem with Ren Faires and bowling alleys is all the food smells!
Tracy beat me to the punch. Art galleries, museums, concerts, readings. You're near DC so there has to be quite a few options for cultural events.
